I am wanting to lose some weight and tone up, any ideas for a good daily workout routine?

I am 5’5″ and range between 140 and 150 lbs. (which is obviously more than Id like to weigh) I have time to work out daily and just don’t know where to start. I want to get rid of fat on my sides, stomach and thighs. And tone up in general.

    Definitely cut down on your calorie intake, but at the same time do cardio and physical workouts. walk/run for 1-2 hours. AND maybe do some lite weightlifting to tone up the areas you need toned.

    Cardio helps you lose over all weight, which means that you can build all the muscle you want underneath, but until you lose the fat on top you won’t really be able to see it. For cardio, I love using the elliptical machine (if you go to a gym they will have them) or running (treadmill or outside). I usually run for 30 minutes doing either speed intervals, like running for a minute then walking for 30 seconds for 20-30 minutes, or long distance running which is the steady pace for a long amount of time. (I guess whatever I’m feeling up to for the day)

    For toning, do not go up in weight (like dumbbells or weight for resistance machines) you must go up in reps (repetitions). So stay with a low weight (I use weights 12-25max) and the more you work out the more you can increase your reps by. A smart way to start out is on the lowest reps (if you haven’t worked out in a while) I would say about 3 sets of 10-12 reps with the lowest dumbbell or weights.

    Also, it is not a good idea to just lift every day or just run every day, you must incorporate them both. I like running mwf and lifting tu,th (with a warm-up run and stretching) and I take the weekends off, of course it depends on your schedule and what you’d like to do when, but its just to give you an idea.

    And don’t forget to eat healthy! I’d imagine you want all your hard work to be most beneficial, so its always smart to feed your body right! Take care and hope that helps, as long as you keep your determination up you will see the results sooner then you know it.
