Weight loss help and advice: exercise and slimming world?

Hi, I am a last 20’s female needing to lose about 7stone (I am very overweight!). I have recently joined a gym/leisure centre and was wondering what sort of exercises I should focus on to kick start weight loss. A friend has also suggested Slimming world, has anyone been to these groups and did you have much success? Thanks in advance, and please no sarcastic responses.

The cross trainer is good at the gym as it works both upper and lower body, the rowing machine is good as well as it uses alot of calories. I went to weight watchers and that was really good, I assume slimming world is similar.

That is great that you are making a start at this. I have struggled with weight for a long time. Joining a gym is great. I would definitely start going to a group, meet some people, and you might find a workout buddy that will help encourage you. I would suggest swimming, walking, or the elliptical to start with so you don’t get discouraged. Also, I have found that keeping a food diary will help to track your calorie intake everyday. Good luck and hope you are successful!

The best way to lose weight is to do what are called cardiovascular exercises and sometimes Aerobic. For you to do this successfully you need to firstly do some math, which would be 226 minus your age, this is what is called your maximum working heart rate. Then you would need to find 70 to 80 percent of your maximum working heart rate. After all of that you need to either do some of the following exercises:

    Walking (Brisk or power walking),
    Running,
    Riding a Bike and
Swimming (Great if any of the others put too much pressure on your joints).
    Wii and Wii fit.

Once you figure out which of the exercises you want to do, you need to do this for 2-3 times a week for at least an hour each time. For good results try to exercise in 20 minute blocks for and hour, as this helps you to metabolise fat quicker than if you just exercise for an hour straight. E.G. exercise for 20 minutes then rest for 3-5 minutes then exercise again for 20 minutes etc. Training with a friend will help you to push yourself further than you would normally, so try to go with a friend or family member for support, this is more likely to give you better results.

Also having a healthy eating plan will help you to lose weight and have more energy. To help you with a healthy eating plan try this website:http://www.maximuscle.com/
They have a meal planner and suggested calorie intake for anyone to try. Its located on the left side near the bottom.

Hope this helps you and good luck with your weight loss.

    Weight Loss Tips
    http://weightlossweightloss.blogspot.com/
    – Water – Water helps to lose weight. Water suppresses the appetite naturally and helps the body metabolize stored fat.

—–Eat breakfast everyday : Do not skip breakfast. Breakfast is break the fast that we have done overnight. Skipping breakfast makes your metabolism slower and makes you hungry which you tend to compensate by eating a lot later.

—–Eat smaller, more frequent meals (eat 4-6 six small meals) – More frequent meals keep your metabolism charged .

—–Exerecise to fire up your metabolism and burn more calories – Try 30-60 minutes of physical activity a day. It increases your metabolism .

—–Take the stairs and park your car further away from the shops – You will end up burning more calories.

—–Interval training – great way to boost metabolism

—-Eating foods that speed up metabolism —>(Spices,High protein foods,High fiber foods)

——— Spices-Spices boosts metabolism, suppresses appetite, reduce fat absorption and adds taste to your meal. Replace butter or mayonnaise with garlic, chili, mustard, ginger. Saute vegetables and chicken in hot sauce as opposed to oil.

———- High protein foods- Protein increases metabolism. It helps in building muscle tissue. More muscles burn more fat and increases your metabolism. Calories from the protein rich foods are much harder for the body to breakdown and process.Protein is a good appetite suppressant.

———- High fiber foods-Fiber is digested slower, keeps us feeling fuller longer and releases its energy slower which keep our blood sugar levels even and helps us avoid cravings.

Firstly, Slimming world and Weight watchers are businesses designed to rake in money from overweight people.

You need a lot of self discipline.

You need to eat less and move more.

Drink water, not flavoured water or fizzy pop.

Do not chew gum. It makes your digestive system be over laden with saliva and it also contains e951.

Avoid any artificial sweeteners, you do NOT need them. Sweetness is only tasted on the tip of your tongue – nowhere else.

Chemicals like aspartame and sucralose are promoted by ‘slimming clubs’ but the actually make you gain weight.

    Good luck!

I am going to tell you the answer to all weigh loss. First of all there are no quick fixes. You must follow a good diet. Simply put you need to eat the way you were designed to eat. Man was given everything we need in it’s natural form on the earth. That means your diet should be fruits vegetables and meat. A good breakfast is a couple eggs and a banana. For lunch and dinner eat a salad then for your main course have a meat and a vegetable, and finish your meal with a fruit. You need to eat every two hours, so in between meals have a protein shake or a cup full of nuts. You need to exercise. Do cardio every morning 45 minutes, for 6 days a week, do not eat anything beforehand. Do weight training atleast a few hours afterwards 4 days a week. Last a not least is you need to change the way you see yourself. Most people do not realize that no matter how much weight they lose they will still see themselves as overweight. You need to see yourself as a thin person. A great program that will help to reprogram your mind and body for weight loss can be found at http://www.acuaids.com
Combine the above and you will lose weight. There are no miracles or short cuts. Dedicate yourself and you will succeed

I have been through it all and know what’s it about. The main thing is to stick in there. You can’t be an addict to food and never exercise if you want to live a healthy life and keep the weight off. I’ve worked out, done every diet, and all types of classes.

Nothing works, besides dedication and intelligence towards the subject of losing weight.

First, depending on how much weight you need to lose, your diet is the first concern. You can’t eat 10,000 calories a day and expect the weight to come off, even if you are exercising a lot. Which brings us to the next thing. Duh, Exercising…

This is a must especially if you need to a lot of weight. Get at least 30 mins of some good hardcore exercising. Do some cardio, in the long run, it’s good for the heart.

However, I find the most hardest part of losing weight/keeping it off, in my diet. It’s so hard to keep your fingers out of the cookie jar or those chocolate goodies. I’ve found a great addition to help any one out, it’s a natural weight loss supplement called Proactol. Now don’t get all crazy on me and say diet pills don’t work. That is true, but not in this case. This one isn’t meant to burn pounds while you sit on the couch. It’s an appetite suppressant, along with being a fat binder. I saved money on the pills at theweightlossplace.com along with getting some good info. It basically makes those fingers not go towards the cookie jar. For me it’s the best pill I’ve tried and I’ve tried cupboards full. Now this doesn’t mean you have to follow my foot steps but I’ve successfully lost roughly 70 pounds and keeping it off til this day.

Well good luck and remember what I said, Dedicate.
