Will running about 20 minutes a day help me lose fat?

I want to start losing overall body fat and I think running would be great. I especially want to lose extra fat on my stomach area and love handles. Will running about 20 minutes every other day help me accomplish this by August or sooner? I also plan to cut calories and eat fewer carbs and sugars.

As long as you’re cutting calories, then yes, the cardio will help. You can’t do one and not the other though. I’m in the same boat, trying to lose weight, so I’m learning as I go along.

And one major thing that I’ve learned, NO CARBS at night. Since you won’t be using those carbs for energy at night, they’ll get stored as fat.

    Good luck!

Running is one of the best ways to burn fat! You would definitely see quick results if you did 20 min a day. But try to increase your time. Go up to 25 mintues and then 30 minutes and so on. Good luck!

Cardio will help but weight training is more effective. Best would be to lower calories, cardio 3 – 4 days a week, weight traininging 3 – 4 days a week.

I personally like the Abs Diet.

    Good luck!

Running 20 minutes every other day will do wonders. Make sure you do a variety of exercises. Do some sit ups, side bends for the love handles, streatching and light weight lifting. Playing sports will help too.Don’t eat after 6PM. Stay away from alcohol. Good luck.

NO. Aim to run for an hour or more each day, but work up to this quantity gradually.

If you are reducing the amount you eat, then doing a bit more exercise won’t help.

Your diet will make you feel tired, so that the running needs more effort. Effort burns sugar, NOT extra fat. And burning sugar will make you even more tired and very hungry.

To burn fat (and stimulate the release from storage of more fat) you need to run for as long as possible, as GENTLY as possible. If you are running gently enough to burn ONLY fat as fuel (less than 50% of maximum effort), then there is no limit to how long you can keep going.

Burning fat does not fatigue you, or make you feel hungry.

Eating less fat is a much better idea than cutting down on sugars and carbs. You should try to get your carbs from pasta, rice, cereals (including bread, porridge and muesli) and potatoes, instead of sugary snacks. And you should try to get your sugars from fruit and vegetables, instead of energy drinks, milk or sweets.

Sugars are NOT converted into fat by your body for storage. Some cells in your liver CAN perform this trick, but in humans, it only happens in small amounts, and not very often. Other animals can do a lot of this ‘lipogenesis’ (eg camels), but humans can’t.

Absolutely, I9 months ago I managed to lose 48lbs in just over 6 months. The results are absolutely amazing. I joined a gym and used a treadmill 4/5 times a week. I started off doing interval training as I was not fit enough to run for 20 minutes at a time. But within just over 2 months I was able to run for 30 minutes of more. I now run outside on a regular basis. I have completed 2 5k runs and 1 10k run.

Running is an extremely vigorous exercise. Many people start running because they want to lose weight. But you have to remember that you will only drop pounds, if you burn more calories than you consume. So you will need to combine running with a healthy diet.

Try to keep all junk foods, ready made processed meals you buy in the supermarket, alcohol, and takeaway meals to an absolute minimum. These are high in refinded sugar and full of saturated fat. Junk food is just what it says – JUNK. With one added ingredient in – FAT.

Try to include more whole foods into your diet. Such as brown bread, brown rice, brown pasta, beans & pulses. In fact carborhydrates and very low in fat. As long as you keep them plain and simple. Don’t smother them in butter, cream, etc. They are very important when exercising.

Sugars, yes, try to cut back on them.

Eat lean meats, poultry, fish, eggs, plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables, (including potatoes), low fat dairy products, skimmed milk and non sugar cereals.

    Good luck.

Yes Running is really good it strips the fat, but eat healthy foods as well, stay away from junk! if you can walk as fast as you can so your inbetween a walk and a jog, thats really good for you, or set your jog to a slowish paste, you want to keep you heart rate at a level of fat burning, so a slow jog will do the trick and burn the fat, for your cardio and calories and fast run will get you going! x

I was curious if you ever thought of changing the structure of your website? Its very well written; I love what youve got to say. But maybe you could a little more in the way of content so people could connect with it better. Youve got an awful lot of text for only having one or 2 pictures. Maybe you could space it out better?
