How do I lose weight safely while also gaining strength?

I am 25 years old, am 6’2″ and weigh 325lbs. I want to lose weight but would like to build strength by gaining muscle. From what I have read, you can’t do both. I have been lifting weights 3 times a week and am on a reduced calorie diet now. In 3 weeks I have lost about 10 pounds total, am it has been very slow lately. What should I do? I want to get to a healthy weight but want to look good too.

You should be eating around 2300-3200 calories a day (as a man) and should be working out 4 times a week (moderate cardio e.g. running 30-40 minutes at a 5.5 mph+ pace) and continue to lift 2-3 times a week. You will lose 1 pound for every 3,500 calories you DONT eat! Additionally you will reach a plateau where your body becomes comfortable with what you are doing. At that point, step up your work-out, not reduce your intake. Best of luck!

you cant really do both but it is possible. first start out with aerobics like running, jogging, or bycycling for about 20 to 30 mins. after that hit the weights. when hitting the weights start off low then work ur way up to a heavier load but not too much that u cant lift it up. between each lift give urself only about 45 secs to a 1 min rest.

Strength training builds muscle. The more muscle you have, the more calories you burn.
A low cal. diet is a good start, as long as it is nutritionally complete and contains enough protein to build muscle.
The only thing that seems to be missing is cardiovascular/aerobic exercise.
