you could have a high fibre starter to the day something like weetabix or bran flakes. Fruit is also good as a breakfast but even having something as simple as brown bread toast with butter and maybe marmite is fine and very filling and you will find you will last much longer without feeling hungry. For lunch a salad is always a good option, and also some fruit (remember ur 5 a day fruit and veg very important when dieting) For dinner steamed or grilled vegatables with brown rice or pasta and fish/ chicken. Drink plenty of water with ur meals and cut down on portions. If you snack even if its just 1 choc bar a day- cutting this out will make u loose alot of weight- u will be suprised how much. Hope this helps. Good luck & remember that u will need to maintain this healthy eating or the weight will go back on. Take Care xxx

Cutting back to 1000 calories a day is pretty drastic (even suicidal), and should only be used if you just want to lose a few pounds quickly, or feel the need to kick-start a longer term weight loss plan. This Menu provides the balanced nutrition as is possible whilst trying to keep it simple, tasty and realistic.

Even so, it’s not a good idea to stick to such dramatic calorie restriction for more than a week. Not just because you’ll be short of essential nutrients, but on a diet of just 1000 calories a day – your body will be convinced it’s in the middle of a famine or you are trying to kill yourself.

This means weight loss will slow down, in order to hold on to every calorie for as long as possible… not helpful when what you really want when you’re trying to lose weight (fat) is a lively, active body burning up the calories as fast as possible, pushing your body into starvation mode is counterproductive.

also ensure that you drink plenty of water. This will keep you from feeling hungry and it will aid the weight loss.

    1000 Calorie Diet Menu (sample)

Drinks throughout the day can include water, black tea and/or coffee without sugar and negligible calorie carbonated drinks.

This menu provides 1000 calories, 60g protein, 145g carbohydrate, 21g fat.

You will have to work out other menus with food variations if you do not like this one
    Breakfast
•Banana sandwich made with 2 small slices of wholemeal bread and a small banana.

•200ml glass of orange juice (non sweetened)

    Morning Snack
•100g pot of low fat fruit yoghurt
    Lunch
•1 wholemeal roll (45g) filled with 70g tuna (canned in brine) and 10g reduced calorie mayonnaise

•Mixed salad of 50g lettuce, 50g red or yellow sweet peppers, 10g spring onions.

    Afternoon Snack
•28g bag of lower fat crisps

    Dinner
•70g Roast Chicken breast (without skin)
    •80g Potatoes, mashed with 30ml semi-skimmed milk
•60g Broccoli, steamed or boiled (al dente)
    •50g Carrots, boiled (al dente)
•100ml Gravy (made from granules) careful here, contain a lot of calories

    Evening
•1 low calorie Drink made with powder and water

Remember your body is not too interested in the type of food you eat and or the quantity; what realy gets it excited is the amount of calories that are in the food you eat.

You will lose between 2-4 lbs in a week, depending on start weight and activity level.

Following is something I experienced many times a day and is all related to fat loss. Think about it; its very important.

Energy requirement (calorie intake) can be thought of as the amount needed to maintain the basic processes of life at rest, that is, basal metabolism, plus the amount needed for physical activity under a variety of circumstances. Your ‘Basil Metabolic Rate’ is the amount of energy needed to keep you alive while using no extra energy (sleeping) and even then a small amount is used.

Body weight is an important factor in determining how much energy we need (absorbed), since more energy will be needed to sustain and move a greater body mass.

Have you heard someone say that they are on a diet and they have lost weight but now they are not losing anymore or have put it back on. Have you ever wondered why?

The reason for this is that a given body weight needs a given amount of energy (we will ignore addtional exercise etc) to stay alive.

As an example a person needs to have a diet of 2000 calories to maintain lets say 150lbs( 68kgs) Now this self same person wants to loose 30lbs (13kgs) and to do this they go on a calorie reduced; lets say 1500 calorie (about a 1lb/week weight loss) diet and the weight starts to come off quite quickly, but then starts to slow down as they now reach a calorie intake that lets say meets 140lbs (63kgs) weight maintenace. What we need to do now is reduce the amount of calories we are eating still further, lets say 1250. this will then pick up on the weight loss that we need to reach our goal,

As you can see our body absorbs calories (energy) to meet its needs. Anymore and it starts to store the extra energy as fat.

lets now go back to our dieter; They are over the moon they have reached their body weight that they set themselves.

What do they do now? most if not all start to work their way up to consume the same amount of calories as when they were 150lbs (68kgs) 2000.

Can you now imagine what is going to happen to their weight? They only need 1250 calories to maintain thier target weight and they are eating 2000; 750 more calories /day, which is being turned into stored energy as fat. Need I say any more.

The next comment you hear is, “this diets no good, I have put all the weight back on I had lost”.
