How do I know if I am gaining weight or gaining muscle?

I eat healthy and exercise for atleast an hour everyday. Then when I weigh myself it says I lost a pound, than the next day I weigh myself again I gained a pound or 2. How do I know if it’s muscle or fat? Sorry, if my spelling is off.

Remeber, muscle weighs more than fat. You will gain a few at first but then muscle will burn all the fat. Don’t get discouraged, its just your bodys natural way of flexutaion. Good luck!

Never worry about a pound here and there. It could be just water weight you lost and put back. Remember muscle weighs more than fat, so you could be getting more muscle mass, which is eating the fat.

Often a pound or two gained is nothing more than water weight. People also weigh more after eating, or if they haven’t had a bowel movement in a day or two. If you are gaining muscle you will know because you will start looking firmer.

It’s definitely not muscle. Nobody gains 3 lbs. in muscle in just one day. You have to weigh yourself during the same time of day, usually in the morning after you wake up. This way it doesn’t show any extra weight do to food or water.

You can put on fat faster then you can put on muscle.

It`s inches -use the measuring tape. My scales tore up, I never replace them-I`m going by this, & how my clothes fit-I have a more positve self-image & at friends house, I`ve noticed I`ve lost 10 lbs.
