What are some healthy ways to lose weight?

I really want to lose some weight, about 20 pounds.I’m willing to be patient, but the faster the better. What are some really efficient exercises, and what type of food should I eat?
What are some exercises that make it fun as well?
I know listening to music helps.

the best way is to cut out like 500 calories a day that is like a few cokes or fast food which isnt too much to cut out. also exercise, do cardio and strength training for best results, do it with a friend for support and someone to push you

dancing and swimming are my favorite excercises. 3500 calories equals one pound. take a look at how many calories you eat, and use a combination of portion control and excecise to eliminate the 3500-7000 calories per week. then you will be healthy and lose 1-2 pounds per week. best wishes.

medifast means replacing healthy natural foods with chemically created shakes. you will be very hungry and will lose weight if you continue with it. However, most people who lose weight this way gain back all if not more as soon as they return to eating real food. Portion control, excercise, and conscious eating are long-term solutions to weight control.

Reducing your caloric intake and increasing your activity level. One pound of fat is equal to 3500 calories or 500 calories per day for a week. The easiest thing to do is reduce your intake by 200-300 calories and increase your activity by the same amount. This is an easier transition for most people because it doesn’t really require much of a noticeable change as eating way less calories or way more activity. Once you’ve made these two small changes you could potentially make larger changes to your intake and activity burning even more fat. Most trainers don’t recommend losing more than 1 pound per week. This allows the body enough time to adjust to the physiological changes. And it’s also easier to re-adjust your diet and activity once you’ve achieved your goal. Twenty pounds would take less than 5 months. Not long at all. You don’t have to drastically change your eating habits, just slightly smaller portions. Cardio exercises such as brisk walking, running, biking, or swimming are excellent ways to burn large amounts of calories if done long enough and consistently.

The thing that got me motivated to lose weight was my iPod Touch. I downloaded the free app called “Lose It!” and I thought it was cool to use and it gives you a calorie budget of how much you should eat every day.

If you don’t have an iPod Touch, try clicking here and figure out how many calories you should eat per day: http://www.tlbc.ca/blog/index.php/bmr-calculator/.

Then I would just use http://www.thedailyplate.com and keep track of the calories you eat.

    Hope I helped!

P.S. The thing that actually helps the most is drinking water. I went through a month of losing weight without drinking enough water, and I lost one pound a week. When I started drinking the 64 ounces of water per day that I was reccommended, I dropped 3 pounds in a week. Then every week after that I was consistently dropping more than just one pound per week (1.2 to 1.8 lbs).

The best way to lose weight is to learn new habits – slim habits. You also need a program that will help you to change. Change your ways and you can enjoy permanent weight loss. Don’t worry about speed – the faster you take weight off, the faster it will come back again…

    I hope this was helpful

On the topic of portion control (critical on Weight Watchers for me)…my nutritionist introduced me to a new product which has just come out, but it’s hard to find in stores. I ordered it online from http://www.PortionControl.net since they offer free shipping. It’s definitely a why-didn’t-I-think-of-that product, and it really helps me with daily portion control, while making my cooking easier and tastier. I LOVE THEM. It’s really a nifty idea, and I recommend it if you like cooking at home but are struggling with eating right.

Moderation is key! Also, finding a workout that YOU love. What kind of stuff do you enjoy and what motivates you?
