My wife wants to follow the weight watchers or slimmer world(?) diet ?

But she doesn’t want to join up with a group as she’d be embarrassed and shy.
So would any one be kind enough to send the information on the Syn points of food, and some recipe ideas please?
She gets enough excercise wise.

There is nothing to be embarrassed or shy about…everyone is there for the same reason. She needs to join to obtain the books which explain the points system, and how many points are in different foods.

Go for the weight watchers. She is just going to have to get over the fact that she is losing weight. Everyone their at the meetings are trying to reach the same goal of trying to lose weight. Weight watches is the most effective.

I understand what you’re wife is going through. I don’t want to join any groups either. Anyways, for the last couple of weeks, I’ve been very careful about what I’ve been eating and have lost about 7 pounds. We’ve been eating a lot of grilled chicken, switched to whole grain pasta and breads, and have been eating a whole lot more fruits and green veggies. I eat as many fruits and veggies as I want, but really watch the portion sizes of the pasta and breads. I’ve also cut out all sodas even the diet ones and keep water in the fridge. My biggest splurge is the flavored creamer in my coffee in the morning. Good luck! You can email me if you have any other questions.

If she wants to do Weight Watchers, she really doesn’t HAVE to be part of the group, they have a website where you can do it all by yourself at http://www.weightwatchers.com…obviously you have to pay a monthly fee to gain access to their trackers and point calculators. Points are automatically calculated for you for any ‘Smart Choice’ entree in the freezer case and in deserts of the same name.

There is also a rogue spreadsheet out there that takes the points formula (it’s not that hard to figure out) and allows you to track your own points.

There are also a few books out there that have really good Weight Watcher’s recipes, but with the calculator in hand, you can find out just about any recipe’s points content, so you can buy just about any diet or ‘light eating’ book and plug in to get the points for the recipes.

One last thing, you can also find out the points value for many restaurants out there by going to: http://www.dwlz.com/restaurants.html

It’s one of the worst websites I have ever seen, but it is the most comprehensive and useful list of restaurant points I have ever come across….

    Have fun!

Hi have you tried the web or slimming magazines? slimming world work on red and green days, red days are meat, protein, all you can eat meat eggs cheese etc green are veg’s, fruit, all you can eat fruit and veg. I personal think weight watchers go to far, they like people to look like stick insects, wheres as slimming world are more open and look for curves, good luck anyway

You can do both of the plans on-line, so you can do it in the comfort of your own home.
i did the slimming world plan I don’t atend the meetings anymore but I still follow the plan . I have the book but you can subscribe through the web site http://www.slimming-world.com or you could email them for information at [email protected] .
They have four different plans now.
the orignal based around meat – carbs are healthy extras(brown rice-brown pasta-new pots in skins)
green – more carbs(pasta -rice-potatoes) – meat is healthy extra
mix to max – based on 3 meals a day (so you could do green -red -green meal) plus healthy snacks of fruit
success express based on portion sizes this one is harder to do.
most fruit and vegetables are free on all the plans potatoes are not free on red plan (healthy extra)
you have two portions a day of dairy milk – cheese
Two portions of fibre wholemeal bread certain cereals like 2 weetabix
syns are things like chocolate, crisps , pastry, gravy, tomato sauce even a shot of vodka(25ml) is 2.5 syns.
Slimming-world wont take you on if you have less than 7lbs to lose and they wont let you get any weight less than your healthy bmi

I really liked what you had to say. Being overweight is not only unatractive it is really bad for your health.

I was overweight all my life. Now I have a size 31 inch waist. I found this book and for an investment of $9.99 I learned how to get rid of the weight.
