How has being overweight effected your pregnancy?

I had my first child 17 months ago and I gained 80, yes 80 lbs with him. I lost a little but as time went on I just got used to my new body and the way it was. Now we want to add to the family and I want to loose 40 lbs by March so we can get pregnant again. How has being over weight effected your pregnancy? Do you have any tips to loose the weight quickly?

Being overweight really hasn’t affected my pregnancy at all, except that in the beginning I lost weight without trying (at first due to morning sickness, then most likely due to eating much healthier). However, my doctor wasn’t concerned about the weight loss because the baby was growing normally. From what I’ve read it seems that many women who are overweight tend to lose a little during pregnancy.
I haven’t had any issues with high blood pressure or diabetes, and I was able to feel the baby’s first movements at the average time.
The previous poster had some good tips about how to lose weight. However, 40 pounds is a lot to lose by March, so if you don’t lose that much don’t worry. I’m sure you would still be fine.
