How do I become slim like all my friends?

I’m very young and I hardly eat anything. I only have 1 meal a day and I’m still chubby! My clothes feel slightly loose but my waist is huge compared to my friends! I hate it! I want to be able to wear clothes that I really like. But no! I have to wear clothes that cover my lumps and bumps! I don’t even drink (alcohol)! :'(

    You should always eat three times a day as this keeps the weight off and the biggest meal should be breakfast.

    1 meal a day is not enough! If you loose weight by starving yourself you will just put it all back on within a matter of like a month when you do start eating normally again..The best way to loose weight is healthy eating of 3 meals a day..Also excersie and drinking water is the key to loosing weight ok.If you dont like excerising than go for long walks everyday you will get used to it and really start enjoying the walks..     Your problem is not unique, it’s one that plagues many people. The simple misconception is that food=fat.

    Simply put, when you don’t eat much you don’t have any muscle. Your muscle converts to fat because fat saves energy while muscle uses it. Your body is afraid that it will not get enough food because it is not getting enough to make it feel safe. The solution is to save the energy by getting rid of the high energy materials in your body: muscle.

    If you eat a little more and take a 20 minute jog three times a week, and do a couple other cardiovascular related exercises, you will be amazed at the results.

    The shape that you dislike is not because you are failing to eat correctly. Muscle holds your body up, makes you like firm and slim. A lack of muscle can cause droopiness and as you put it, lumps and bumps.

    The less food you eat, the more muscle will convert to fat, the less slim you’ll look, and the less healthy you’ll be.

    I sincerely wish you luck. At least try this advice. It works. Don’t give up.

    Look, I’m a pretty slim person, 5’2″ and 100lbs, and I would never even think about eating a meal a day…I just eat when I’m hungry, which means..
    Light breakfast
    Small snack
    Light lunch
    Small snack

    ^^Maybe you could try that?

    Laura, you don’t say how old you are or what height/weight/size clothing you are so it’s difficult for anyone to comment on that. What we can comment on though is that one meal a day is certainly not good. You need to treat your metabolism like a fire and continuously provide it with fuel, a fire without fuel will die down, too much fuel and it will suffocate but with the right amount it will burn with vigour and that’s exactly what you need to be able to do. Also don’t compare yourself to your friends, they might be jealous of your natural curves. Wear clothes that flatter and make you look good and you’ll feel much better. Increasing your activity levels will also help you get in shape much more quickly than diet alone. Take care x

    You are unusual if all of your friends are slim as around 50% of the UK population is overweight. the only way to lose weight successfully is by lifestyle change. Eat less and take regular vigorous exercise indefinitely.

    Run about 4-5 miles everyday 🙂
    Make sure you have the right shoes. Spikes or Reebok RunTone running shoes should help (:
    I got mine a month ago and since I had them, I’ve been running 5 miles everyday and so far these are my results:
    – Lost about 10 pounds of fat. (I can practically see my abs)
    – I feel stronger
    – I’m a lot less tired in the morning.
    – I love my muscled legs right now. Well, they we’re already muscled since I’m naturally really big-boned but now they’re more muscled. So, running helps alot 🙂

    – Gained 13 pounds of muscle (This is different for everyone depending on the type of body you have. I’m really big-boned, I have a body that’s 72% muscle and I’m a mesomorph and a endomorph)

    Also, you can eat almost anything as long as it’s not too fattening.
    I eat a huge bowl of Cinnamon Toast Crunch in the morning and about 2 hours before I go to sleep.
    During the day I just eat a regular meal. Then go jogging for 30 minutes.

    Also try eating every three hours. When you learn to eat every 3 hours, you’ll gain control over your blood sugar, which will help you put control of your appetite. When you control your appetite, you control your weight. When you control your weight, you’ll feel so much more energized and confident. Your self-esteem will go through the roof. You’ll enjoy looking at yourself in the mirror and appreciating all the hard work you’ve done. You’ll feel so good about yourself so healthy and fit, that nothing will stand in your way.

    This is my diet:

    Meal 1 @ 8 am : Breakfast (400 calories of balanced nutrients)
    Meal 2 @ 11 pm: Snack (100 calories)
    Meal 3 @ 2 pm: Lunch (400 calories of balanced nutrients)
    Meal 4 @ 5 pm: Snack (100 calories)
    Meal 5 @ 8 pm: Dinner (400 calories of balanced nutrients)
    Meal 6 @ 9 pm: Treat (60 calories)

    Eat a BUNCH of vegetables and fruits, avoid all cokes, caffeine’s, smoking, alcohol etc. AVOID “JUNK FOOD” and “Fast Food” as this type of food is very unhealthy, lacking in vitamins really and has plenty of fattening molecules which make one gain weight and is very bad for overall health.

    If you do this every day for one month, you should lose around 10 pounds per month until you get to your natural healthy weight. Look up on the net for an idea of what your weight for your height should be. When you get to this weight, your body will look very nice and you’ll feel very good.

    Extra Tip: Try drinking at least a glass of Green Tea everyday. It’s filled with antioxidants which helps use energy faster and burn calories twice as fast.
    Many tests have been conducted on the effects of green tea on weight loss and it has been found that individuals that consume this beverage on a regular basis are able to successfully drop body fat.
