Why do people believe laughter is the best medicine ?
Sure, it makes you feel better for a short while but he actual health benefits have no been proven. Especially for those who have long term health problems.
I used to suffer with Ulcerative Colitis – so I do know what it is like to suffer with a life changing illness. Being is good, but laughter on it’s own has no positive health benefit – there are other things that can just be as cheery yet more beneficial.
being positive

Its more of a metaphorical medicine, not to be taken literally.

It’s used more in a metaphorical sense, but people also believe it because it releases endorphins which…well make you feel happier:P

Wrong. Health benefits have been proven. If you think that you’re gonna die and you’re all depressed (Why do you think depression is a disease) then it damages your heart and body.
Laughed and good spirit have often been reason that people pull through from a disease.
From the uppity know-it-all cynical way that you speak, it’s clear that you’ve never gone through anything like that.
Personally, I’ve had Burkitt’s Lymphoma among other things and while in the pediatric’s oncology ward, I saw with my own eyes the effects that dog/art/music/theater/dance therapy had on the children. The joking happy volunteers made everyone happier! The chemotherapy made me feel awful, you can’t even imagine. Every bone and muscle ached, I always felt like puking, my head hurt, I always felt tired. If I was in my hospital room alone then it all felt 100x worse, but when I went into the play room to laugh with others it’s as if my disease just fell away!
