    1. How tall are you?
    2. 8-12 stone is a big difference

Drink lots of water and green tea (cause they 1) fill you 2) have barely any calories 3) speed up your metabolism [but the water will have to be cold for this, green tea is fine at any temperature to speed your metabolic rate])

    Exercise

Dont eat 4 hours before you sleep – your metabolic rate slows down as you sleep

    Read the calorie labels

    Set realistic goals

Identify your ideal weight (this table will tell you – http://www.nhlbi.nih.gov/guidelines/obesity/bmi_tbl.htm )

Get at least 7 hours of sleep a night to raise your metabolism

    ———————–
    Exercise:
    Cardio

    Run
    – you burn many calories, (especially if you add hills and sprints)
    – A 145-lb person can burn 300 (at 5.2 mph) in 30 minutes.

    Cross-Country Skiing
    – A 145-lb person burns about 330 calories during 30 minutes of skiing.
but, ease into it as its hard 🙂

    Bike
    – 250-500 calories in 30 minutes, depending on how fast you go and how high your resistance is.
    – you use all the power in your legs for this too 🙂

    Swimming
    – you use your whole body
    – 30 minutes doing breast-stroke and can burn almost 400 calories.

    Step Aerobics
    – Step is one tough workout that targets your legs, butt and hips while burning almost 400 calories in 30 minutes

    Rock-climbing
    – 380 calories burnt in 30 minutes,
    – you use strength and power with your arms and legs

    Walking
    – 180 calories in 30 minutes. Adding hills, sprints or even a few minutes of jogging can increase the amount of calories you burn.
    – walk briskly
    – keep you head up, back straight and swing your arms.

What does “stone” mean? In terms of pounds, what do you weigh?

You are 12, so you really ought to avoid anything too drastic. Here is what I would do if I were you:

No more than 1 hour of exercise, 6 days per week. Make it intense if you want, but 2 hours is too long. Sprints are great for weight loss (run all out for 30 seconds-1 minute, recover for 2 minutes, Repeat for a total of 20 minutes)

Eat as many fruits and vegetables as you can, some nuts, beans, whole grains, and a very little bit of meat.

    Avoid any of the following:
    White sugar
    White bread
    Chips, crackers, snack foods, etc
    anything deep fried
    Fast food
    Trans fats

Do these things and watch the weight melt off!

    Good luck!

There are many ways to lose weight, but most of the healthier ways aren’t as fast as you would like. I work in a gym, and I’ve seen all types of methods to lose weight. I think the healthiest way to lose weight would be more than just exercise….if you exercise, you’re helping yourself out, obviously. But if you also stick to healthier foods than you normally do, that helps tremendously. Most of the healthiest people I know (judging by weight as well as cholesterol, being disease-free, blood pressure, etc) eat an almost vegetarian/vegan diet (very little sugar, oil, or bread) and work out 5 to 6 times a week for an hour or so. If you want to have tremendous results, I’d cut out all sugar unless it is natural, such as the kind in fruits. Same goes for bread and fats. If you completely eliminated that and stuck to almost solely fruits and vegetables (and fish or poultry occasionally), you should have a faster rate of weight loss.
Remember though that if you are losing more than 2 or 3 pounds in a week, odds are your body is burning your MUSCLE rather than fat.
And as for the exercise – running is excellent, but if you added weight training I think you would see a lot of difference. In many studies they’ve seen that if you use cardio and weight-training, you lose significantly more weight. I personally do 45 minutes of cardio and 45 minutes of weight training 6 days a week.
Lastly, I think if you are trying to lose weight quickly, I’d talk to your doctor – if you ahve any medical conditions that could interfere with your ability to lose weight, then a lot of this may need adjusting.

An essential component of every diet is to improve metabolic control of each individual. Preserving muscle mass and weight loss of fat mass is key in achieving this improvement in metabolic control. The fact is that muscle dictates your metabolism.People who are overweight and obese have a lot of the fat in proportion to the muscle, which can slow down metabolism and insulin resistance to support. A complete program includes as both a diet, exercise and even supplements that can help improve metabolic control. When choosing a weight loss program, diet is very important to keep looking for muscle integrity. Severe diets that shake the body, resulting in rapid weight loss, but this loss is due to muscle mass and reduce body water level, and not reduce fat.Following a weight loss program will also see a fast winning just lost weight, but fat and not muscle. Best plan ahead for those who want to lose a few pounds is a change of plan to target muscle and the fat in the body and to enhance fat loss and not muscle. However, it is important to incorporate in this program some exercise. Walking or cycling, dancing, aerobics or any other form of movement are required. First, exercise will be done 3 times a week for 10 minutes, reaching to 30-45 minutes 3 to 5 times a week.
Note that muscle nass control metabolism, while fat it slows down. Maintaining or improving (if necessary) the muscle mass can have positive effects on the metabolism.
