Probably atleast a few months or maybe even weeks.

For me it was about a year. I started smoking regularly at 14 years old and quit just before turning 39. Now I’m 49. It took months for the smoker’s cough to go away and longer for the breathless feeling after running to go away. The younger you are, the quicker you’ll recover, I think.

When I quit it took me about 2 weeks to experience “not running out of breath”. I knew it was going to happen but I was shocked at how drastic a change it was. It was like I never ran out of breath anymore. Was not expecting it to be THAT different.
