Why is Obama trying to get people to stop smoking?
Why is Obama trying to get people to stop smoking when he can’t stop? What? It’s okay for the President to smoke, but not anyone else? That ain’t right. I don’t smoke, but my dad does and he shouldn’t have to pay $5 for a pack of cigarettes. It just ain’t right.

we pay €8.40 for ciggies here in ireland. its ridiculous. apparently trying to get young people to not smoke, and stop older people. its my own business when i decide to stop smoking, why should i have to spend nearly a tenner on a box of fags, which is mostly tax? does obama smoke?

Actually, he only takes a drag on a cig once in awhile now. He’s been quite successful in quitting smoking, altho I don’t care if my president smokes — it’s his business.
However, for him to want people to be healthier — isn’t that insane? Next thing U know, he’ll be presenting a health care reform bill to help us save money on medical expenses and get better health care.

It’s the nanny state. Our government wants to run every detail of our lives. Now they want to tax soft drinks so we don’t drink so many. But of course our politicians are rich so these things don’t affect them. Just more attacks on our liberty.

LMFAO! besides, if ur dad can’t afford to pay $5 for a pk of cigs then too bad, get used to it, life isn’t fair. another poor loser! find a way to get rich like Obama, otherwise stop playing your violin! Go check out your hospital, nursing wings, watch the people caring oxygen tanks with them. Most of them smoked most of their life. I have two brothers both have COPD, caused from smoking. Most smokers I know are already dead. Don’t think smoking wont kill you cause it will. Most people know this but they are addicted to tobacco and it is hard to quit. You will hear this over and over, ” I have a right to smoke” ” This is a free country”, In other words if you don’t like my smoke get the hl out, you have rights, but don’t infringe on theirs.
Obama knows this but he is a addicted to tobacco.

Like the President, I managed to quit after smoking for many years, but also like the President, I slip up sometimes. The fact that I slip up just increases my desire not to see kids lured into the same destructive, addictive habit that I was, and high cigarette prices are a proven way to reduce the incidence of teen smoking.
