Some boys never go through a growth spurt and instead they just grow gradually instead of growing it all in a spurt like a growth spurt.
But when teenage boys do go through a puberty growth spurt they tend to loose weight as the boost in height makes the body physically taller and larger and as a result the fat gets more proportioned around the bigger body.
For example weighing 160 lbs for a boy who’s 5’2 is considered a little overweight, but if that boy is 5’6 or 5’7 or 5’8 1 year later, then that weight is consired fine, because thanks to the extra height it makes you look like you lost weight when in reality you still weight the same, but because you grew taller it makes you look like you lost weight.

The Puberty growth spurt in boys usually begins between the ages of 13-17, so who knows maybe you have started a growth spurt already, but you don’t notice because you see yourself everyday.
One clear sign that you’re going through a puberty growth spurt is that the joints on your legs and arms hurt, that’s a definitely clear signal that you’re experiencing a rapid growth in height and size as well.
Another sign is that you will get hungrier more than you’ve ever been before.
For example it will take bigger meals to fill you up, you will want to eat more snacks.
And eventually either old or current clothes will start to look small on you and will feel tighter when you wear them.

You’ve been in puberty longer than 9 months my son!

You’ll probably have a growth spurt some time soon, good luck with it!
