Hello,
I’m glad that you asked this question which will help you set the right fitness goals, a crucial step to success.
The difference is that weight loss can be resulted from fat loss, muscle loss or water loss or any combination of those three. What I’m trying to say is when you lose fat, you’ll lose weight but when you lose weight, you’ll not necessarily lose fat, you might just lose muscle and water.
Keep in mind that you’re after fat loss, not weight loss. So it’s not always a good idea to check your progress by stepping on the scale.
Of course, if you have a lot of excessive fat, most of the weight you lose is fat, but that’s not the case if you’re already lean.
One simple tip to know what you’re actually losing is to watch your average progress over a fixed period of time, for example, a week. The typical and recommended fat loss rate is 1 to 2 pounds per week, anything more than that and you’re losing more than just fat. So make sure you’re not losing weight too fast.
My advice to help you maintain as much muscle as possible while losing fat is to do weight lifting and eat more protein. When you do weight lifting, you’ll give the muscle necessary stimulation. If you don’t, the body may consume your muscle tissue because it thinks you no longer need it.
And the reason why you need to eat more protein is because it’s the muscle-building nutrient and most of your muscle tissue is made of protein. Protein-rich foods include lean red meat, skinless chicken breast, fish, egg whites and more.
Now you know the difference between fat loss and weight loss as well as how to achieve the right fitness goal. If you find this information too brief to get started, you can get a step-by-step blueprint to get the body you want at my site below.
To your success,
