to get in shape i guess you mean you’re heart and losing fat, it’s cardio. all cardio is good if you do it intensely enough. it just takes time. start slowely though and build work your way up to longer and more intense forms of walking/ jogging/ biking.

a mixture of cardio and pilates the reason I say that is because you get cardio to burn fat and pilates helps to lengthen and tone you.

The areas of fitness include cardiovascular endurance, muscular endurance, muscular strength, balance and flexibility.

Exercises that have lengthy post oxygen consumption affects, and excite the metabolism. In other words Intense training exercises such as HIIT. HIIT theoritcally can increase ur vo2max (the rate at which oxygen is delivered to ur cells during exercise) which is the fastest way to increase your aerobic stamina. If your looking for strength and muscular endurance, then of course weight lifting, reps and sets is hands down the best way to go. weight lifting is the most anabolic resistance type training (with proper diet of course) and thus will increase your strength and muscular endurance at a faster rate. For flexibility try yoga and pilates. For balance yoga. For general fat loss stick with HIIT and weight lifting (HIIT= High intensity interval training google it if you don’t know what it is)

Cardio and lots of it. Swimming & cycling are very good for toning too. There is no getting fit ‘quickly’, otherwise everyone would be doing it. It takes time but you’ll get there 🙂

If you have a Wii get the new wii fit, its great measures you body fat index and heart rate to gauge your current level of fitness and provides just the right exercise for you. As you get fitter it knows this and changes the exercise to suit. So its like having your own personal trainer and its fun 😉
