okay, so i’m really unhappy with my weight and i want to do something about it?

im 15, 5ft8 and i weigh 143lbs, and i really would like to loose the extra weight that i have.
I’ve tried situps and crunches, and none of that has worked for me.
i really would like to get rid of my ‘jelly belly’, lol. I’d just love to get a nice, toned stomach.

i’ve heard that running looses weight from all over your body, too.
i’d love to start running, but i get out of breath so quickly!
Is there anything i can do to help? Any different exercises to get a toned flat stomach? And also, how long will it be till i see a difference?

Thanks so much!

Just start with running intervals. Walk to warm up, then run as fast as you can as long as you can, then walk to cool down, then run, etc…. as long as possible.

Exercise as often as possible and eat raw fruits and vegetables with some baked fish each dinner. Drink water and take a vitamin B complex supplement for nutrients.

    Then, Try this:
Eat brown rice, veggies and baked fish for dinner.
Oatmeal for breakfast with fruit in it.
Drink fruit smoothies during the day for a snack. Try to eat protein at every meal…for breakfast with the oatmeal, eat a scrambled egg white or a hard boiled egg.
Eat a salad or chicken/turkey sandwich on whole wheat for lunch. Use olive oil and vinegar dressing…no saucy dressings.
    Drink water only.
Never eat white or processed foods.
Try baked sweet potatoes…mmm… Eat spinach salads, not plain lettuce and add all the veggies you want to it. Try red wine vinegar…a few splashes and a little drizzle of olive oil.
If you want a crunchy snack, cut up a cucumber and put in lite Italian dressing or better yet, half cold water and half white vinegar. I mix mine with some cherry tomatoes too…

A good smoothie needs a good blender, so make sure you have one, cut up 1 banana, some blueberries (about 10-15) and strawberries (about 5), a cup or so of skim milk, a sprinkle of flax seed (buy a container of it and keep in fridge), a scoop of vanilla protein powder and blend it up, add a bit of crushed ice and you’ve got a good smoothie. You can add any kind of fruit…I cut up peaches sometimes too or frozen cherries.

Try reverse crunches, where you lift your legs up and out. Go to SELF.com for good tips…I love their workouts. Walk or run a lot and
use a stability ball for crunches.

Eat A LOT of carbs right before you go running and before bed. This should cure the breath issues.

Don’t eat after 7pm. That really helps me…

Omg. No, don’t start running. Haha
Just go for a 30 minute walk each day!

Have you ever heard of the bicycle exercise for your stomach? You can actually feel that one…

    Good luck girl :]

That is like a perfect weight! Stay there, don’t try to be someone you aren’t. From what I can tell in your picture, you are very pretty, and you have no weight issues. 🙂 Be happy with yourself. If you absolutely think you need to lose weight, don’t lose a lot, and just eat healthier, and do the exercises you have been doing! Good luck.

Exercise alone really isn’t gonna make much of a difference
Calorie counting reallllllly helps with weight loss

If you have an iTouch or iPhone you can get the app loseit!
    That works very well

Or you could use an online calorie counter

Either way, it really opens your eyes to how you’re eating
And trust me it’s not very hard at all 🙂

Also, set limits for yourself like no eating after 8. That helps too.

    Good luck!!!!!!!

i think the only way to lose weight is to just change what you eat. and if you don’t eat extremely bad then just eat a little less, but don’t starve yourself because that won’t work at all, just eat a little whenever you’re hungry.
and if you want some nice little abs then I don’t see why a million crunches won’t work. maybe you could try doing them on an exercise ball or off the edge of your bed or something to make them more difficult.

(also, I don’t think you need to lose weight. you shouldn’t worry about numbers, just how it looks. i’m shorter than you and weigh more, but i think i look all right. i’d love to weight 143 🙂

well your about the same everything as me. so that being said you dont need to loose weight because our bmi is at the right level.

but running is the best way, try walking laps first for a week. then jogging half then walking half. then jogging then running. your endurance will build up and it will get easier.

for the stomach try bicycle exercise.
it works wonders for me in cheer.
it will take about 3 weeks to see the difference if you stay focused.
remember its not just the exercising its the food too. stay on a nutritious diet and drink plenty of water.

    good luck!

Running (aka cardio) burns calories and calories are the main thing that keeps fat on your body. And if you get out of breath, that says you might even need it physiologically. It will burn those extra calories and also you can benifit from the other health benifits that cardio workouts have to offer. Keep your calorie intake down, and eat low calorie foods, and eat more small meals throughout the day instead of three large ones. Dont skip meal, because this just makes your body think it wont be getting food and so it slows your metabolism DOWN and you want it going faster! Eat light breakfast instead of skipping, the reason is so your body’s metabolism doesnt slow down in the morning and a light breakfast will help to regulate and speed it up. and keep doing crunches and situps.

I recommend you run every day until you are considerably tired (not until it starts to hurt), and every other day do crunches and
sittups. If you want a toned stomach, then you have to build the muscle as well as lose the fat. They kind of meet half way if you see what im talking about. Eat low calorie and smart, but try not to skip meals and eat a breakfast, to keep your metabolism active and healthy. And as for the time, Im not sure its different for everyone

    So good luck

The best thing that you can do is eat whole, unprocessed foods (the kind that either grew from the ground or were cut from the animal in one piece) and make sure that you do not exceed an appropriate calorie allowance for the day (generally one that doesn’t starve you but never leaves you stuffed or snacking when you’re not hungry). It takes more time, but it is the only way to lose weight.

Most people can afford to have one high calorie snack food that they enjoy each day (well not in America, but in a perfect world). These are called discretionary calories. If you are trying to lose weight, you should not engage in using too many discretionary calories. Don’t get obsessive about avoiding them, because if you do, or if you ever starve yourself, you’ll just end up binging later.

Get used to your stomach being almost full, but not quite. Eat foods that are high in fiber or water because they take up more space in your stomach. Don’t you dare avoid carbs because even if you lose weight, you’ll just gain it back later. Atkins is nonsense. Remember this mantra: “Not too much, mostly plants”.

Finally, you need to find a strenuous aerobic workout that you can stick with. If that means running 1/2 hour a day and getting a little out of breath, then learn to love the discomfort. You could also try swimming, biking, hiking, or something else you enjoy. Whatever you’ll do, do it. You will not maintain weight loss without exercise.

You dont have to run to lose weight. You can walk your way to weight lose and increase your cardiovascular health.

For starters, pick a known distance to walk…perhaps once around the block is a mile…three streets from your house may be a halfmile. Whichever you may choose, walk at a slightly faster pace than what you would just normally walking around. Do this 3-4 times a week for about 30-60min.

After 2 weeks of walking…try HIIT( High Intensity Interval Training). Walk 4 min…jog 1 min. repeat the process for your 30-60min walk.

After 3 weeks of walking…walk 3min..jog 2 min for the duration of your walk time.

After 4 weeks of walking… feel free to change your program as needed.

Dont forget to watch your eating habits. Stay away or at least limit/lower the amount of junk foods, breads and pasta you eat.

A lot of people say you’re fine the way you are, but it does depend on your body makeup. At 5’8” and 143 lbs, your weight is fine, but is it mostly muscle or fat? If you have very little muscle, then that weight means you do have fat on your frame you could lose, and replace to an extent with muscle.

Running or even walking, hiking (do you have trails where you live?) are great for all-over toning and fat-loss. You may also do crunches and situps, which are the best exercise for abs. You said you have jelly on your belly, so that means until you do cardio to lose some of that fat, it will be difficult to see the results of toning exercises.

So in short, eat healthy and exercise. If you only want to lose weight, cardio is a good option. If you want to tone up and happen to have some flab, you have to do both cardio and muscle exercises like situps in order to see your progress.

    Good luck!
