You want to do cardio 3-5 times per week and also do weight training 2x per week. As far as food is concerned, you just want to make sure that you are eating low fat and calorie foods. I recommend Weight Watchers because it really helps you loose weight. i lost 35 lbs on it. If you cant go to a meeting then you can do it online as well.

the best way to lose weight is buy a sauna suit- usually no more than 25 dollars and but it under a sweats and sweatshirt and either run on the treadmill or cycle at the gym. as far as foods go eat what ever you want but don’t over eat. the common misconception people have is changing their diet- the true key it is not what you eat but how much you consume in a serving or sitting. the small things such as stairs over the elevator can really make an impact. jumping rope can also be effective in stamina gain as well as weight loss.

Hit the track hard, I know everyone will say this but weight loss usually revolves around cardio.
Make sure though that you balance your workout with some weight lifting, and Ab exercises.
Eating healthy, this is very easy to do once you get into the groove of it.
Tuna Fish, along with some light mayo does wonders for muscles and it also helps promote weight loss with moderation intake.
    Heres some more.
Peanuts, Yogurt, Skim Milk or low fat Milk, Peanut Butter, Wheat Bread, Lean Pockets, etc.
Please dont go on any fad diets such as the carb diets, they dont work, you will gain all your weight back once you get off it.
Carbs are major nutrients to the body for energy.
But stick to low fat foods, and low calorie foods.

Since you have a gym membership be sure to use the treadmills, stairclimbers or stationary bikes. You can also swim in the pool (if your gym has one). Those will all help you lose weight. Start working out about 10 minutes per day and keep escalating weekly.

As for diet, the most important thing you can do is eat a well balanced meal and snacking on fruits and vegetables. Always have your veggie/fruit portion of your meal larger than your meat/starch. If you feel hungry, start eating more meals per day just in smaller portions.

Drink lots of water! It will stave off hunger and is great for your body.

    Sample Diet:
Breakfast – Oatmeal with raisins buy a box of Quick Oats, microwave 1/2 cup milk, 1/2 cup water, 1/2 cup oats for 2 minutes, add 1/4 cup raisins. Quick, easy and very healthy.

Snack – Fruit and LowFat Yogurt

Lunch – Sandwhich on whole wheat bread (not crushed wheat or plain wheat but whole wheat), tomatoes, lettuce, pickles, mustard, turkey breast and go light on the mayonnaise. Use any veggies you like and pile it high. Glass of milk and a piece of fruit – even a mandarin orange cup or applesauce will do fine.

Snack – Ryecrisp crackers with veggie cream cheese

Dinner – Chicken, cheese, salsa on a bed of rice with corn. Chicken breasts in glass oven dish, pour salsa over the top – let cook for 30 minutes. Add cheese, then cook for another 15 minutes – go easy on the cheese. Use Uncle Ben boil in a bag rice – 10 minutes cooking time. Serve the chicken over the rice. Easy and healthy – as long as you don’t overdo the cheese. OR Salmon, Rice and Asparagus – bake salmon for 20 minutes at 375 use Old Bay Seasoning. Use brown rice, at it is healthier. Cook asparagus in oven – 12 minutes at 400, after you snap off woody ends, sprinkle with salt, pepper and olive oil then bake it in the oven.

Snack – Peanut butter and toast with milk before you go to bed will help you sleep and it’s a healthy snack.

Getting plenty of sleep is a key to weight loss. Healthier people tend to sleep better therefore having more energy!

    Good luck!

invest in an excercise ball, with a dvd to go along with it. it worked for me, it leaves you really sore at first, but thats good, it means you’re stretching and working all your important muscles.
as far as a diet goes, stay away from fastfood, and frozen foods. don’t drink any soda, even diet. Too much fruit juice can have lots of sugar too, so watch that. stay strong,
    good luck.
