I want to lose some weight before my big wedding day in Sept. 08. I eat healthy foods but I want to start?

    about 24-30pds, depending on how much you exercise and how consistant you are. don’t just do cardio strength train to. do different kind of stuff: run, jump rope, swim, take an exerise class, or buy some dvd. same with strength trainning don’;t just work on one part work on the whole body.

    Don’t believe the slogan “water makes me fat”. Beside being stupid… you might get into serious troubles with your kidneys.
    • Drink ONLY natural juices, freshly squized!
    Don’t drink Coca Cola, Pepsi, Spite etc. during the diet. Even lite or light versions.
    I thought this was not possible for me to achieve. Now… I don’t even LIKE them anymore!
    Nothing compares to the the smell of a fresh natural fruit juice! Not speaking about health…

    • If you want quicker results – exercise would be good.
    But remember, you’re not going to attend the Olympic Games! If you exercise a lot – you’ll get very hungry… and you’ll be tempted to eat more. Don’t exagerate!
    Walking is fine (but not very slow…) for your body, and your spirit. Half an hour, or one hour /day – it’s up to you. Walking can make you lean and increase blood circulation. Walking is known to be one of the best exercises a person can do, and it is healthy for the heart as well.
    Get fit while you sit new workout program that’s the laziest way to get in shape – works almost any place, anytime, anywhere… even while watching TV!
    • Don’t just sit in front of the TV and eat peanuts…
    I guarantee THIS won’t work for your weight loss…
    • Start a regular exercise program and stick with it. Don’t be afraid of those sweat suits and Lycra pants!
    • Start swimming. Swimming is an excellent exercise to get involved with, since it increases blood flow and uses muscles we don’t regularly use. Start a swimming program and try to do it 3 times a week. You will feel excellent and rejuvenated.
    • Clean your house! It is a great exercise idea if you work from home. Housework can burn off loads of calories. Start by vacuuming, polishing, dusting and cleaning glass/windows. Make your house sparkling clean while burning off excess weight.
    • Go on an adventurous vacation or retreat where you have to climb, hike, walk, row or engage in other physical activities. Stay busy and keep moving. You will be sure to burn calories.

    It all depends on your body type. You should start to see minor results after about 2 weeks of consistent exercise, but a month of constant work will show even more.

    As far as the best for weight loss- ALL OF THEM. Cardio- swimming, speed walking, elliptical machines, heavy biking, or aerobics to name a few. Anything that gets your heart going, and keeps it going for at least 20 minutes.

    But add light weights too. It will help you tone your muscles, which not only give you shape but help you burn more calories.

    And just adding exercise may not make a big difference if you go home and eat a box of twinkies after. Look at minor diet modifications- leaner meats (like skinless chicken and fish), watch the sauces for caloric content, and cutting down on coffees and sodas and bad juices. Park further in the parking lot at the grocery store, take the stairs more often. Those little tings not only help with the wieght loss, but get your lifestyle conducive to keeping it off.

    If I were to choose what the best exercises are for losing belly fat, my answer would include full body exercises such as the following:

    various forms of squats, lunges, deadlifts, clean & presses, snatches, swings, presses and pulls, mountain climbers, sprinting, etc.

    Why?

    Because, these types of full body exercises would encompass a much higher percentage of the body. The way you combine those full body exercises into a strategic workout that maximizes your metabolism is also very important

    Exercise will help the weight come off much faster…

    Cardio is fabulous if you want to cut down:
    Try to aim for cardio at least 5 days a week for at least 30 minutes… after you work out for several weeks increase the time…

    try these exercises:
    running/walking–add inclines to help shape quads and butt
    swimming
    elliptical machine
    biking
    stair climber machine
    stadiums
    aerobic exercise classes

    You should also incorporate strength training with either body weight (push-ups and sit-ups) or light weights at least 2-3 times a week to tone up and build a little muscle. more muscle=higher metabolism=more calories burned even when you are sitting on your computer!

    Of course you should eat healthy to help the weight come off…

    Fruit:
    apples
    oranges
    grapes
    bananas
    kiwi
    honeydew melon
    pineapple
    canteloupe

    lots of vegetables!
    sweet potatoes (healthy potatoes, not the white ones)

    egg beaters (egg substitute that cuts half the calories and all the fat and cholesterol)

    good carbs:
    100% whole grain/whole wheat bread
    or wraps to cut down carbs/calories

    Snacks:
    dry cereal: cheerios, chex, special k…
    granola bars
    peanut butter crackers
    fruit
    whole wheat toast
    pretzels

    MAKE SURE YOU HYDRATE! it will boost your metabolism and keep you satiated longer!:)

    try to eat every three hours…
    in one day aim for 3 meals and 2 snacks…

    More important than exercising is eating properly. Check the nutritional contents in your foods to make sure they are low in fat in general (avoid saturated and trans fat TOTALLY). Do this along with 20-30 mins cardio 3-4 times a week and you’ll definitely see results. Where most ppl fail is that they don’t realize that it takes 2-3 months to see proper results. Throw in some challenging weights (weights where you can do sets of 8-10 of), and keep at it
    Consistency is what will determine if you lose weight or not.

    Exercising is a great part of weight loss, however, it you don’t incorporate healthy eating habits you’re not going to get too far. I would start with cardio (walking, jogging, running). Aim for 30-60 mins of physical activity on most days of the week. And you don’t have to do the same thing, try tennis, golf, swimming. It all counts!

    This depends on your present condition and type of work out and type of diet.

    “Mayo Clinic Diet” no work out, normal active person. First Two weeks 20 pounds. Cannot be on it for more then 4 weeks.

    But 2 pound per week is very good and 2 pounds per month is even batter. Slow and steady wins the race. It is easy to do and easy to keep it off, for ever.

    You must count calories and at least in initial stages write down what you are going to eat and when then stay on that list. Your total calories for the week must not exceed, 1500 x 7 = 10,500 calories this will give you leave way to indulge at special occasions like wedding and parties, but you must write down what you eat and account for the calories latter and adjust the total intake next week.

    While at it build your body too, while reducing by doing body parts specific exercises.

    If you are not too old, then best way to reduce your weight is to increase your height.

    Vegetarians have a big advantage, in loosing weight, it cost less and they can satisfy the hunger more easily, some vegetables have only 1 calorie per pound, so they can fill themselves up with it before enjoying each meal, and never go hungry.

    Most people should take one a day water soluble multi-vitamins when on this program; they can be purchased at the pharmacy near you.

According to this calculation if you find your self say only 10 pounds more, you may not be over weight. Remember every one is slightly different and you can just watch it, on your own and not let it get out of hand.

    What is the reason for being over weight?

    This is also simple, have doctor check you out for any physical or hormonal abnormalities. The doctor should be advising you of your ideal weight even though you have already figured out the ideal weight and you are seen a doctor because your weight is not where it should be according to BMI.

    Basic understanding of loosing weight.

    Every one uses calories at all time. There may be some exceptions to this rule, for most of us; the rate of use, even when we are resting, we use 65 calories per hour minimum. This comes to1560 calories per day. The actual range is between 65 and 100 calories per hour. This is consistent with heart rate of 60 to 80 bits per minute.

    Simply put any person eating only say 1500 calories a day will not put on any additional weight. At this level of calories consumption the person should loose some weight over long haul, depending on the individual rate of metabolism.

    What is a healthy weight loss?

    Proteins: 60 percent of 1500 calories per day = 900 calories.

    2.Need more energy.

    Fat: 10 percent of 1500 calorie per day = 150 calories.
    Complex Carbohydrates: 40 percent of 1500 calories per day = 450 calories.
    Proteins: 50 percent of 1500 calories per day = 750 calories.

    3.Need to reduce weight only.

    Fat: 25 percent of 1500 calorie per day = 375 calories.
    Complex Carbohydrates: 25 percent of 1500 calories per day = 375 calories.
    Proteins: 50 percent of 1500 calories per day = 750 calories.

    4.Need to increase muscles bulk, but still reduce weight.

    Fat: 10 percent of 1500 calorie per day = 150 calories.
    Complex Carbohydrates: 15 percent of 1500 calories per day = 225 calories.
    Proteins: 75 percent of 1500 calories per day = 1125 calories.
    Exercise the muscles you want to develop, you can find right exercise on line, recommend use of light weights.

    Foot note: To take fat is so important, while reducing even fat, that it is included in all cases. If the fat is completely cut out, body will think of producing the fat, and will produce the fat by reducing metabolism, without fat in take, you may actually again weight even at lower than 1500 calorie level. You will feel run down and lethargic.

    How one must, drink and eat?

    Drink

    Every one may not be able to follow this regime.

    A 16 oz glass of water first thing in the morning will be very healthy start.
    If you need to stabilize your stomach before eating, you can have a glass of water just before each and every meal. This is the easiest way to meet your quota of gallon of liquids.

    In western culture. Standard healthy practice for long time was three warm square meals per day. No eating in between, but children were allowed night cap.

    All that has changed, present thinking is 5 to 6 times per day. Any way what practice one follows is up to them; to each his own.

    Another best practice will be a glass of water before bed time, nothing to eat for two hours before bed time.

    If you are buying packaged items it is on the package.

    Go on the internet and find the calorie information.

    Lots of cook book now a days list calorie per serving.
    Use your best guess, in this method use higher figure then you have guessed.

    Well, despite the negative feedback & reviews, I’ve been trying the Souper Cabbage Soup diet which consists of 7 days. There is a healthy eating plan & exercise regime with it so I can’t see how it can be unhealthy. I started it yesterday & seems to be working a treat. I weighed myself this morning & have def lost weight already which is great! My start weight was 13.5st & now it’s 13st!!!! Moreover, that’s how much weight I’ve lost in ONE day with no exercise whatsoever!

    I would def recommend this plan & I’m going to stay on it until I reach my goal weight! I reckon it’s worth a go & once you’ve achieved your desired weight, just eat healthy.

    Rope Jumping! You will shed fat and it’s a full body workout. And it’s pretty fun too. It’s one of the best aerobic workouts you can do. You get the same effects as with running but faster with less impact. Assuming you are eating a proper diet, you will LOSE FAT and get fit. Like one of the other posters said, STAY AWAY FROM DIETS!! I say that because people tend to go back to their old eating habits once they lose the weight. Stick with foods that are healthy but you can live with eating long-term.
