How to get fit without paying through the nose?

It’s that all these gyms cost £40 a month and I can think of better ways of spending my money. Like on beer. Joke. I’d prefer just to get an overview of how to work out and do it myself. I jog and walk already. Thanks for your time!

You really don’t need much in the way of equipment at all. I’ve linked to the mayo clinic’s fitness site. It has lots of exercise you can do around the house with little or no equipment at all. And jogging is an excellent way to stay fit.

There’s an excellent book called “Body for Life” that describes a workout regimen with a few dumbells and adjustable bench.

If you don’t want to spend any money at all on equipment (although a good fitness regimen must include some muscle-building exercises), then look for exercises that you can do without weights. Isometrics. This is basically using your own body as the weight.

Sit ups (crunches) and push-ups are the most commonly known exercises like this, but there are others, such as lunges.

Most really good fitness routines I’ve seen include working out 6 days a week, and taking day 7 for rest. Days 1, 3, 5 for weights/muscle work, and days 2, 4, and 6 for abs and cardio. A balanced approach is very important.

Are you trying to lose body fat or gain muscle mass? You have to walk faster and pump those inorder to get that heart rate up. That is how you will sweat, and that is how you burn calories/fat storage. You need good nutrition. If you exercise regularly, eat a “Energy Yeilding Diet”. A portion of Carbs., protein, and alittle fat.

Cycle to work. You’ll get fitter, and riding past traffic jams in peak hour is better than sitting in them, burning fuel.

    jog in a park
do some push ups every night or so
try new exercises e.g. sit ups
basically go to a park and generally they should have a chin up bar to use
use chairs to do some press ups or lift things.
    ride a bike.

gym monthly fees cost alot but you can easily just use a swimming pool now and then to keep fit.

probably cost you £2 each time
