How slow would one have to lose weight in order to avoid massive amounts of loose skin?

My friend wants to lose weight but is afraid of having massive amounts of extra skin. He’s got like 50-75 lbs to lose for his first goal. How slowly would he have to lose weight to avoid the loose skin or are there any tips on how to firm the skin up?

Lose around 1-2 pounds of fat per week while doing weight training at the same time.

Take a look at “the myth of loose skin” while you’re at it – http://www.bodyfatguide.com/LooseSkin.htm

If she combines toning exercises and uses toning lotions, gels etc, whilst she is eating healthily, she wont get saggy skin when she looses weight. If she goes to her local gym, the cheapest thing for her to do would be to buy a years membership and get a professional induction, where she will be able to ask all of the questions about the best ways to tone up.
    Hope i helped x

The problem with loose skin is when there are hundreds of pounds to loose. At the rate he will be losing it there shouldn’t be loose skin, its naturally stretchy. There may be stretch marks though. Once fat is replaced with muscle it will take up some room.

I suggest changing your diet first and then introducing exercise once they have lost around 14lbs.

Diet alone should be enough for you to lose some weight, and then once that first 14lbs has gone you will need to bring in exercise to maintain your weight loss and to trim up. The golden rule to weight loss is to eat less and move more! It is that simple – whatever is going into your mouth needs to be burnt off otherwise it will turn into fat.
It needs to be done by a proper programme that is not quick fix, or you will find the the excess skin problem being more prevalent.

I’m not sure what their current eating habits are, maybe if you let us know what they are currently eating and I could give you an idea of what is good and what is bad? They need to see this not as a diet but as a change of lifestyle – do not encourage them onto some silly restrictive diet because they wont be able to maintain it. They need to make changes that will last forever and ones that you will be able to live with for the rest of your life.

There are many healthy eating plans out there, using natural foods and not pills.

In summary this needs to be done in a steady regular way to avoid the problem. The body will decide how quickly this comes off as your metabolic rate has an influence on this, so no one can say how quickly this will or wont happen. If you change lifestyle eat healthier foods and exercise gently at first, you would then review each say month at a time to set new goals and adjust the programme

    I truly hope this helps

I would try this workout. At the same time you will be gaining muscule and burning fat. So its awesome.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED: Two 5 pounds weights.
    * means one 5 pound weight in each hand.

If you don’t have two 5 pound weights try using water bottles full of water.

    Workout:
    Stretch
    *20 Bench Press x3
    20 squats x3
    *20 side arm lifts x3
    20 crunches x3
    20 push-ups x3
    *20 lunges x3
    20 leg lifts x3
    Walk for 30 mins
    Stretch

Stretching before your workout helps you not to pull a muscule during your workout.

Stretching after your workout helps you not be AS sore afterward.

I try to do this everyday, but I’m sure you would get results doing this only 2-4 days a week. I recomend everyday.

Eat 1500 calories a day and drink 8 glasses of water daily.

You will lose weight and tone up!

I’ve lost 6 pounds and I’ve only been doing it for a week!

You can do it! i know you can!

You will be sore. and it will hurt but you can do it.

Don’t be scared to add more excercises of more reps.

    Hope this works for you!

There’s no fast or slow pace that is better than the other. The main thing is to do it safely and to do it safely means the correct balance of food and more importantly the correct food choices. Low Fat Foods don’t work. That much is a fact. You cannot lose weight using Low Fat Diets. Low fat foods have been popular for more than 15 years, but yet our society is getting more overweight as each year passes. The best site for losing weight is listed below. I can promise you that if you work with them you will get to your goal.

If you wanna use some extra pills or whatever, use always natural stuff..
That’s the most important thing.. Because chemicals may affect quickly but after a while you may have some side effects of them..

The only thing that I can say.. Use only natural things..
Lots of natural pills on the internet.. take a free trial..

The damage may already be done no matter how slowly he goes, but aim to lose about 2-3lbs a week and that should have his results showing good, also if he des toning exercise then any excess skin will get toned up and wont be a problem.

the key is to not lose more than 2 pounds per week and to make sure this weight loss is from fat reduction and not the loss of muscle or lean body mass. Many people trying to lose weight will eat too few calories to lose weight quickly and instead of losing body fat, they lose muscle and lean tissue which causes flab and loose skin. Reduce your calorie intake by no more than 30% of the calories you need to maintain your current weight ( http://fatblastzone.com/burn-calculator/ ). Also, add some sort of strength training to preserve and build muscle mass. The strength training alone will turn your body into a fat burning machine.
