How many calories should I eat at every meal if I am on a diet?

If I am on the low calorie diet and I only want to consume a limited about of calories and still keep it healthy, how many calories should i consume at each meal? I am trying to keep it under 1500 per day.

it really depends on your current weight – If your goal is to lose weight by burning off excess body fat, you can try to aim to eat around 500 fewer calories per day than your daily caloric needs, and maintain or increase your exercise activity. The combination of both diet and exercise is more effective than just one or the other. Do not go below 1200 calories per day unless you are on a medically supervised weight loss program or after consultation with your doctor.

(search the web for “daily caloric needs calculator” and enter your height and weight)

To lose one pound, a person must burn 3,500 calories more than are consumed (500 calories per day over the course of a week). For example, reducing calories by 300 per day and increasing daily activity to burn off an additional 200 calories should result in a weight loss of one pound per week.

Most health professionals recommend slow weight loss as the safest and most effective approach. A sensible weight-loss program allows you to lose weight gradually — about one-half to one pound per week. Gradual weight loss promotes long-term loss of body fat, not just water weight that can be quickly regained.

Remember, the weight took time to be put on and also takes time to come off.

    Good Luck!!

    around 400

which makes all 3 meals 1200 calories in total so it leaves room for a few snacks.

If you don’t want snacks..500 max at each meal.

A healthier way would be around 600 for breakfast 500 for lunch and 400 for dinner

Try to have 5 small meals a day=300 calories per each meal. This should be easy.
    EG Meal Plan:

Meal one:cereal w/ fruit and milk
    Meal two: 2 eggs
    Meal three: salad (light dressing)
    Meal four: chicken breast
    Meal five: soup and crackers

You can find calorie counters online. Factor 5 is a great diet because you don’t have to count your calories. You simply eat the allowed foods 5 times a day.

Don’t forget aerobics and weight training are important elements of losing weight!Good luck!
