depends on your activity and current weight. as long as you are burning more calories than you are taking in, you’ll lose weight.

A pound of fat is essentially 4,500 exess calories.

That means a man must eat 4,500 calories fewer than he burns to lose a pound of fat. The specifics vary from person to person (How active their lifestyle is, personal metabolism)

The question is how many calories are you burning. Burn 2000, eat 1500.

It depends on your height, & bone structure. I request that you please make an appt. with your dr. on this, and ask for a referral to a nutritionist. That person can/will help you on the calorie count, what to eat within that calorie count, etc. Exercise like walking, swimming, dancing (yes, even alone in your home), is good to help burn calories. I know the basic weight for a woman 5′ tall is base weight of 100 lbs. For a man, I am not sure. However, I do know that for a man, anything less than 1,500 calories per day your body would consider as a starvation diet, slow down your metabolism, holding onto your weight, thinking it needs to hold onto the weight-not sure when you will be feeding it properly again. I wish you the best. Take care.

    Hope this helps!

It depends on his height, weight, and level of activity. These factors will determine how many calories it takes for a man to maintain his current weight.

Once you know that number, then weight loss is a matter of keeping the total calories consumed less than that number. This can be done through eating less food, exercising more or (ideally) both.

As long as calories in < calories out, then weight loss will ensue. How quickly depends on how great the difference is. A pound of fat is about 3500 calories. So reducing net caloric intake to 500 calories a day less than what is required to maintain current weight will result in a loss of about a pound a week. 1-2 pounds a week is considered the most one should lose to be healthy. Before you try to lose weight, check your Body Mass Index using a BMI calculator. Find out if you actually need to lose weight and how much you need to lose. That will help you better plan your diet and exercise, as well as set goals for yourself.

To successfully lose weight, you must carry out
a plan to balance your caloric intake with exercise.
Ideally, dieting should be done by eating a nutritionally
balanced, low-calorie diet and increasing physical activity.

In order to successfully lose weight, you must know the facts below:

    Low Fat Foods DON’T WORK.

You cannot lose weight using Low Fat Diets. Low fat foods have been popular for more than 15 years, but yet our society is getting more overweight as each year passes. This fact alone should tell you that eating a purely low fat menu is not the answer to losing weight.

    Low Calorie Diets DON’T WORK.

You won’t lose weight using a Low Calorie Dieting Plan either. In fact, eating low calories is the worst thing that you can do to your body, since that will only slow down your body’s fat burning engine and ruin all chances of losing weight (low calorie diets may allow a few pounds of weight loss for the first few days, but then after that all weight loss comes to a halt — known as a dieting plateau). You can never get slim by starving yourself.

    Low Carb Plans DON’T WORK.

You’ll probably find it extremely difficult to get slim using a Low Carb Dieting Plan. Low carb diets have recently become popular over the last couple years, but the problem with low carb menus is that they are too strict and TOO HARD TO FOLLOW for average people. Low carb menus tend to rob your body of too much energy (carbohydrates) and make it nearly impossible to remain on the program for very long. This is why so many dieters find it difficult to follow a strict low carbohydrate menu.

In fact, the food that you eat can either make you THIN or FAT!!!
