The key is to burn more calories than you take in.
You’ll need to burn 1201 to lose weight.

There are 3500 calories in a pound.

    1 pound = 3500 calories.
So you need to burn around 500 calories a day (500 x 7 = 3500) in order to loose 1 pound each week.

weight loss and burning calories all depends on your specific metabolism. if 1200 calories/day is sufficient for you, then you should burn about 300-400 calories per day and safely lose weight

I think a pound of fat is something like 3000 calories! So do the math and I would say about 300-400 calories a day at the gym would do it. I actually ended up following a program I found online that gives you step by step directions on what to eat, when to eat it, how much to eat, and tips for a workout plan for anyone. I lost a lot of weight by simply sticking to the plan, but it does take dedication!
I recommend trying it out at least, you never know what it can do for you. It did wonders on me!
    good luck!!

the trick is to eat better and exercize more

    * no sugar – no more juices, candy, sweet drinks, anything sweet
    * complex carbs – eat whole wheat pasta, not white pasta
    * veggies – eat lots
    * no fats – no salad dressings, mayo, dont cook with oil

remember 2 neat little acronyms, avoid…

    CATS AND FATS

    C – caffeine
    A – alcohol
    T – tobacco
    S – sugar/salt

    FATS – FATS(oils)
