How do I lose weight without diet pills with a heart condition?

I have arethmia (not sure if sp. right) which is where my heart sometimes flutters and goes real fast for a few minutes. I have had 5 children and am 5’2 and 225lbs. I would like to lose weight but dont want to use pills or any weird diet fads. I am worried about my heart if I just start jogging or something. Yes I have tried eating less.

I have a fast heartbeat also. I suggest first you see a Cardiologist. Let them run stress tests on you first. See how your heart functions under stress. Keep in mind with a fast heartbeat that skips when you start excercising your body will probably be very receptive to the excercise, its no different than walking fast or upstairs, BUT your mental fear will make you think things are going wrong with your heart and you will drive your own heart rate up. Don’t use diet fads or drugs. What I think you should do between seeing your DR and Cardiologist is change your eating habits. As Mom’s we may cook things for our kids that when you are trying to lose weight work against you. So try to wean the kids off the bad foods at the same time as you. Buy more fruits, yogurts, low fat cookies, no soda, brown bread, no processed meats, cook as many of your meals from scratch as you can. Drink water with lemon until you can drink more water just plain. Don’t make brownies right now or cookies or cakes. Take the kids out for Desserts so you arent tempted to eat them at home. If you have to let them eat badly just dont bring it home. Walk slow as you need to until your confidence is up. Just that you walk after dinner will actually start setting your body up for future excercise, talk your way through the excerise and say I am OK!
    Good luck

Try eating even less. Exercise is not necessary. I have seen people become bedridden(from a stroke or in a coma) and they will lose weight if the calories are reduced. It is the easiest, cheapest and safest way to lose weight. If you stay hungry, that is a good sign that you are losing weight. It takes 3 days for the fat metabolism to crank up and start using calories from the stored up fat. One meal with too many calories or especially sugar and you shut down the fat metabolism for 3 days again. Eat meat only 2-4 times/week. Eat non-starchy veggies, fruit, cereal and weigh yourself daily in the AM before breakfast. If you are not losing 1/3 of a pound a day, then cut your calories more. BTW, the liver makes all the sugar your body needs.
