How do I lose weight and not gain muscle?

I mainly want to lose weight in my stomach/hips. What exercises or machines should I use at the gym to do this? I really don’t want to gain muscle, but I realize that may not be avoidable.

    lots and lots of cardio… thats what im in the process of doing, rite now i do 45 minutes on the eliptical, half an hour on the treadmill and half an hour on the exercise bike… alot of the equipment has a setting that says fat burn, that will keep your heart rate at a pace where you will burn fat most,

    Cardio is the way to go. I am in the process of losing weight myself and last week I lifted weights and I actually gained. Now I’m back to cardio because I saw results when I was doing just that.
