How do I lose fat, not just weight?

At the beginning of the summer i started eating better and exercising more and i have lost about 5lbs, but my body looks the same. I want to lose more fat! I work out once a week for about two hours and about twice a week for one hour. I don’t have time to work out every day or time to burn more calories than I consume. If anybody has some tips I would appreciate it. (im 14 by the way and a girl) Thank you!

keep doing what you’re doing and also make sure what what you eat is low in calories from fat. these are the last to be used by the body and th hardest to get rid of. try eating things with less than 1/2 calories from fat compare to regular calories. als, don’t give up. it might seen like it takes forever but in the end its worth it.

    Good Luck!!

Everytime you work out, try doing about 20-30 minutes of weight training. Even just getting 5-10lb dumbbells or going to the gym and using the machines. You need to build muscle. Muscle burns more calories than fat, therefore the more you have, the more you burn when you’re not working out. You will not grow giant hulk-like muscles, you’ll become more toned and you’ll notice a difference.

Make sure you’re eating healthy. Cut back your calories (don’t starve or deprive yourself, though) and cut back your carbohydrates. Eat more protein! It helps build muscle and keeps you feeling more full for longer. If you don’t have time to burn more calories than you consume, then work on consuming less.

Also, marathon workouts (like the two hour session) sometimes stress the body to the point where it holds onto weight. If there’s anyway to cut it down to an hour and move the second one to another day in the week, do it. If not, then make sure you’re not doing the same thing for the entire work out. Spend 30 minutes on a bike, then 30 minutes on the treadmill, 30 minutes lifting weights and 30 minutes on the treadmill or elliptical or track or swimming, whatever. Just break it up and give your body time for your body to at least partially recover.
