How can you tell the difference between muscle and fat?

How can differentiate between muscle and fat. Ex: a little bit of either fat or muscle on the inner thigh. Can you see the difference? Also, what exercises burn calories and fat without building muscle?

Flex your leg muscles and pinch. If you can grab that extra little bit, then it’s fat. If not, it’s muscle. Cardiovascular exercise – running, biking, swimming, anything that gets your heart rate up – burns calories and fat. All exercise will build muscle, but cardio less so than targeted strength training.
