How can my girlfriend lose weight with a thyroid problem?

My girlfriend literally has to starve herself in order to lose any weight. She wants to eat like everybody else. Whatever weight she loses, she gains it back when she tries to eat a larger amount of food but still very healthy. She has a high (or low) thyroid which dramatically slows her metabolism. She doesn’t quite know what to do anymore about it. Can someone gimme suggestions?

    She has low levels of the hormone her thyroid usually produces. It is very treatable, simply by using tablets of t3 and t4. Go to a doctor, they will know exactly what to do, and she will feel normal in no time.

    She has a low thyroid, and needs to see a doctor because her thyroid isn’t producing. It’s very fixable. She’ll get a prescription and that will take care of everything.

    My mom has this. The prescription fixed everything, and since the prescription is making up for what her body isn’t making, there aren’t any side effects. It won’t be a big deal for your girlfriend at all. Hope this helps. 🙂
