How can I grow my previously relaxed African hair into a natural healthy afro?

I’ve been relaxing my hair from since I can remember but now i’m tired of relaxing it.

Recently, it’s been breaking a lot and doesn’t seem to be gaining any length.

Does anyone know what the best (British) afro hair products are to use?

I would also appreciate any stories and tips of how to get my hair to a healthy afro.

Thanks

I don’t know of any British hair products, being in America and never having travelled there myself, but I do know that relaxing African hair types, means that you have to keep relaxing your hair. If you want to go natural all of a sudden, you have to “start over” but cutting your hair very low, or to the new growth, which has not been affected by the chemical relaxer.

hey, do you have very course hair? It sounds like Its very very dry, i have helped another member on yahoo answers with hair exactly like yours, The best thing to do, Is read the back of whatever you put in your hair.
Theres very dangerous chemicals that are in shampoos that can penetrate your scalp causing more damage than help like Sodium laureth sulfate
, i would suggest that you buy natural Products for your hair, Like organic ECT, Because you have such dry hair, Using Products like Pure coconut oil, Jojoba Oil & Tsubaki oil (Camellia Oil), Using Hot oil Treatments (That you can get in pharmacies, Chemists, and any high street store like Boots ECT). It is so worth it. overtime it will rebuild your hair strength that you have lost and Reform More Keratin (Keratin Is found naturally in healthy hair, It is a hair protein) Also if you can find any Keratin treatments or shampoos. It will make your hair so much better through the first time of using it, Also you would be happy to know, that if you decided to have a straight style. there is a safer, Non chemical measure that you can go to. Which is called the Brasilian Blow out, Brazilian Keratin straightening. Remember whatever you do. if theres too many chemicals on the back of shampoos put it down. Its doing more halm than good, oh and also get your ends cut at least once every two months

Also I must add, that there’s a very good product on the market for course African hair, Its By a brand called Motions, And Its in most of African hair shops, Watch out for their hair lotions the pink bottle one as specially (IT CONTAINS keratin), They are very affordable. and it can be used on any types of hair, but much better on coarse hair. I even use that 😀 and i am japanese, i had bad dry hair from dye, and now my hair is back full of health Thanks to this

YES!!! Natural hair is BEAUTIFUL HAIR

I am a beautiful black natural woman. Been natural for 8 glorious years now. I never wanted my hair permed but my aunt did it to me when I was 9 and then I said no more when I turned sixteen. I made the decision to go back to the way God intended me to be.

Okay how to get your fro going. People have different methods for growing their hair out. Some people put a braids like micro braids, kinky braids and that way their natural hair grows out but no one sees it, some people do weaves or wigs, some people cut it straight off from the start and do it very short like a guy. No matter what you do there is going to come a point where you’re going to have to cut the dead hair (permed hair) from the new growth (natural hair).

You can do this at the start so that you only have natural hair or you can let the new growth continue to grow out until it reaches a nice length and then you have a cute little afro when you cut it. Do not be afraid to cut your hair! I love cutting my hair. I’ve cut it God knows how many times. It will grow back.

    Taking Care of your Hair:
You have to find a routine that works for you. What works for me will not always be your fix. Personally I can wash my hair once and month and be good. That might not work for you. Of course you know you can’t throw the same products you used to put in your hair when it was permed. A great hair product is Mango and Lime because it’s targeted to natural hair and it doesn’t have petroleum in it. I HATE products that have petroleum in them because to me it’s just like putting straight up chunks of plastic in my hair or car oil. Would you put car oil in your hair? Mango and Lime has amazing products that don’t clog up your hair.

Another thing that works well on almost anyone is making your own products. Avocados are amazing for conditioners. I make my own shampoos and conditioners. Honey is good too.

Don’t be afraid to be natural. Here is a youtube video of me and my afro in all it’s perfection and google natural hair care and you will get lots of links and lots of love.

Together with almost everything which appears to be building within this particular subject material, many of your viewpoints happen to be rather stimulating. However, I beg your pardon, but I can not give credence to your entire theory, all be it exciting none the less. It looks to everybody that your opinions are actually not entirely justified and in simple fact you are generally your self not really entirely convinced of your assertion. In any case I did enjoy examining it.

Woah! I’m really enjoying the template/theme of this website. It’s simple, yet effective. A lot of times it’s tough to get that “perfect balance” between usability and visual appeal. I must say you’ve done a amazing job with this. Additionally, the blog loads very fast for me on Opera. Superb Blog!

One thing I’d prefer to say is always that car insurance canceling is a terrifying experience and if you are doing the best things being a driver you’ll not get one. Some individuals do receive the notice that they are officially dumped by the insurance company and several have to scramble to get added insurance after the cancellation. Cheap auto insurance rates are generally hard to get after the cancellation. Understanding the main reasons concerning the auto insurance termination can help car owners prevent losing one of the most vital privileges readily available. Thanks for the ideas shared through your blog.
