eat less calories than you are burning off in a day. that is the key to any diet.

if you like your treats (as we all do) then just try cutting down on the amount you eat, or try getting ones with lower sats fats. maybe if you speak with your parents and say you are very unhappy with your weight and would like to take up dancing they might change their minds about you doing it? i dont no, but everyone loves a dance hun… surely they should be able to see no real harm it that. good luck!

    Hey,

I’m sure you already know there’s no easy way to lose weight. You have to be determined to stick to a plan and follow through with it. The most important things are diet and exercise. Try and exercise at least 3 times a week, the more the merrier. Go cycling, go for a run, go swimming, whatever, just make sure it means you tire yourself out and end up sweaty.

As for diet, my advice is to have 3 meals a day. No snacking in between. If you really want to lose weight you have to stick to this and accept that there is no easy way.

Get yourself a fixed diet plan. Write down on a piece of paper what you’re going to eat for the week and stick to it.

    Here’s my advice:

For dinner, have one meat or fish (lean of course, and not fried) and two veg (no potatoes), with fist size portions of each. No dressings, sauces or salt though. Have some yogurt, make sure its the low fat variety, or alternatively, have some fruit. Lunch should follow the same rules as dinner; this will ensure you manage to avoid snacking and allow your body time to burn off fat.

    Here’s a typical day:

Breakfast: Two hard boiled eggs (or microwave scrambled) and a banana.

Lunch: Chicken salad containing chicken, lettuce and tomato (pre-prepared at home)

Dinner: Filet Mignon steak with peas and carrots

Also take a multivitamin tablet every morning (preferably one with added minerals, ask your pharmacist) to make sure your body has all the vitamins it needs to work in top condition all day.

This diet should set you on the road to the achieved effect. If you’re doing exercise, give yourself the added boost with an apple or half a banana. It may not sound like much, but under diet conditions it’ll give you a massive boost in blood sugar. Don’t have anything sugary like chocolate or a fizzy drink, as then when you exercise, your body will only burn off the blood sugar, not fat.

To drink: water, water, water. But don’t just drink water. Fill yourself with water. I’m talking 10 cups a day at least. When you’re exercising, don’t have a sports drink as the sugar will stop your body from burning fat: drink water instead. This will boost your metabolism and ensure you’re burning fat at optimum speed. Plus it’ll make you feel better all round as it’ll help all your body’s natural processes. In fact, this whole diet should help you feel better: the better you eat the better you feel!

As I said before, there’s no easy way, you have to be really tough on yourself. No chocolate or sweets, nothing with sugar except fruit. This way your body should start to burn off the fat instead of just sugar.

    Hope this helps,

When you are losing weight, you should exercise and diet together.
If you exercise without dieting, you will get bigger appetite, which
will lead to increase of weight, or muscle grow
underneath the fat layer, and make you bulkier. If you diet without
exercising, you will become flabby and will have excess skin. For
diet, go wheat free. No pasta, pizza, bread and so on. And no food
after 7 p.m. People achieve marvellous results with it. Depending on
your initial weight, you can drop upwards from 20 pounds a month. If
you don’t eat wheat then you don’t eat all those sticky, fatty goey
cakes, you don’t eat junk food, and you don’t eat biscuits. But your
diet is still balanced. It costs nothing, and you do not have to
calculate points or to buy special meals or plans. For exercising,
start with walking, and then switch to running/jogging. Running is the
most efficient and calorie-burn exercise ever. If you are overweight a
lot, walk first or you may have health complications (heart attack,
disjointed bones and so on). Weight lifting is a good means to target
your problem areas for men and women. It’s not necessarily to become a
bodybuilder or even join a gym – a couple of dumbbells will help you
to target your problem areas (stomach, butt, legs, arms, chest).

I’ve lost count of how many of these questions i have seen in the last few weeks. I am really starting to think that people are spending time ‘sitting down’ at computer on yahoo answers asking this question in order to put off exercising! Sorry you have only actually started doing something about your weight problem when you start either cutting down on eating or exercising more. Get on and do it! Start of gradually , you are more likely to stick at it this way. Also since you are only 13 get your parent/family to help you pick out better foods because obviously they are feeding you badly. It’s probably a household issue.

    I little tip.
Drink water when you are having a craving for food.
The body/brain can not tell the difference whether it is hungry or dehydrated. You may be eating when infact your are needing liquid.

Also dont eat after 7 o’clock at night.

Also dont eat till your full. Eat a moderate portion of food. It takes the stomach ten minutes to tell the brain you are full. In the mean time you have been eating food.
Have your meal and wait for 10-15 minutes. Then decide if you need more.
Dont be silly though and starve yourself. Because the next time you eat your body will retain as much as it can. Which will defeat what your doing in the first place.

Always eat when you start to feel the hunger feeling (however dont forget the water trick from earlier) eat moderately sized meals, and wait to see if your full.
Its ok to snack imbetween meals too! just make sure its healthy food.
    fruits etc.

Also, speak to your parents about your passion for dance.
    And how you feel.

    Good luck

Waxbutterfly is right. You need to use more calories than consume. There are many ways of doing this. Firstly, exercise is important even if you are not trying to lose weight. This is probably not that big an issue if you’re 13 but when you get a bit older it is vital. Many people join gyms but again at your age you should perhaps try and take part in more sport or games. I’m afraid parents aren’t often wrong when they tell you that you shouldn’t spend all day in front of the TV! The other way is to eat healthier. I’m afraid that’s what it boils down to. Cookies and ice cream are fine in moderation, but make sure you eat plenty of salad and vegetables to get a balanced diet. Avoid things like sweet cereals and try to go for whole grain cereals maybe with fruit.

I’m afraid that’s what it comes down to. A healthy mix of exercise and a balanced diet. You’ll be hearing and reading that for the rest of your life just like everyone else I’m afraid!

    enjoy!

    Well, the first thing u have to do is stop eating muck! By that i mean cookies/biscuits and ice cream. The second thing is to get ur parents to get u back to the dancing again as it is a great exercise. Try this NHS website address as it is packed with good advice and ideas on how to lose weight quickly but safely. It is as follows;

    http://www.nhs.uk/chq/pages/851.aspx?CategoryID=51&SubCategoryID=165&r=1&rtitle=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.nhs.uk%2Fchq+-+851%3FCategoryID%3D51%26SubCategoryID%3D165

What to do is copy the above address onto your address bar of your internet explorer and it will take u straight there. If u don’t know how to do it ask your mum/dad or even a good friend whom u can trust.

Good luck but get in touch if i can help u further.

    its all about self control

the ideal eating pattern is to eat breakfast within an hour of waking up
    dinner
    and tea

something most people dont know is that your body slows down about 5pmish so if you snack past then your body wont digest it as well as it should and itd be converted straight to fat

if you cant help snacking throughout the day its worth shedding a tad more on either fruit to snack on or healthy options cookies or snacks which have much less calories etc in them

if excersise is out of the question then try your best to cut down on snacking

also, dont be =[ if you dnot notice much difference straight away
just stick to it and do your best

hope you find the best way for you =]
