How can a thirteen year old girl lose weight fast?

I am 13 weigh 150 pounds (horrible I know) and I’m 5’3. I know TONS of people will say “Wait until you finish growing” but that’s stupid. Right now I’m overweight and not healthy. If anyone knows a fast or easy way to lose like 40 pounds please tell me. My goal is to be at a healthy weight by Dec. 31st. Also any exercises that don’t take much time or effort would be useful with school and everything. Thanks!

I’m not going to say that you should “wait until you finish growing” but I AM going to say that losing weight fast is usually not healthy. You need to lose a small amount at a time. Also, if you’re looking for exercises that “don’t take much time or effort” to help you lose weight, you’re looking for something that doesn’t exist.

You need to replace sugary drinks like coke with water, drink orange juice in the morning to kickstart your metabolism, watch your meal sizes, exercise at least 20 minutes a day, etc. Talk to your school nurse and maybe she can help you come up with a fitness plan. My sister did that when she was your age.

Start eating more healthier, no(sugars, sweets-candy, cut back on the salt and accessories, no sodas, WATER IS THE KEY, drink some cranberry juice everyday-at least a full glass.
When it comes to exercise THERE IS NO LIMIT, if u want to lose weight work it out, in your free time(when ur watching tv,video games, wateva that has nothing to do with school or home basics) EXERCISE, in eat right, see ya on tha slim side sista

always eat breakfast, it will feed you mentally and physically. it starts your metabolism.
try to drink as much water as you can; and try to run a few miles every night.

When i was 11 – yes, i said 11 years old – I went on a diet. I only ate about 1,000 calories each day. I walked for about a mile on the treadmill, and lifted weights for…probably 5 minutes (everyday). And i lost 10 pounds in one month. I didn’t keep this up, so i just gained the weight back. But if you have will power, you can do it. I’m not sure if it’s healthy, but it’s fast.
*To help keep yourself from eating, keep yourself busy doing something else. Find a hobby that you can do for a long period of time without getting bored.

fast weight loss usually takes its toll on muscle and thats dangerous!you need about 4 months at least to shed 40 lbs safely…walk a lot daily and do yoga /pilates…go play sports!dance and learn martial arts…avoid all sugary/alcoholic drinks, fasfoods & junkfoods.

Alright, luv. I’ma give you a little advice here. Nothing is EVER that simple. It sucks, but that’s something you’re going to have to get used to.

On to business now… I know you think “Wait until you’re finished growing!” is stupid, but it’s partially true. Most young women start out pudgy, this is a GOOD thing. You’ll grow up, fill out, and find that you have a much slimmer physique in your later teen years.

However, if you really do feel that you’re overweight (as you may well be, you have a better idea of your build than I do based on the info given), here’s what you should do:

    – DON’T worry about your weight. Focus on your HEALTH. You seem to recognize this, but just watch you don’t get carried away, and don’t use sugar substitutes. For example: Rather than switch to diet drinks, your best bet is to stop drinking such beverages all together. Sugar, in excess, will put on weight, but sucralose, aspertame, and other artificial sweeteners are things your body doesn’t need PERIOD. You’re better to be a little pudgy from sugar than drink ANY of these chemicals.

    – Eat healthy foods. Nitrates (Found in processed meats such as cold cuts), hydrogenated or modified oils/trans fats/shortening and other preservatives, glucose/fructose and high fructose corn syrup should ALL BE AVOIDED. These are empty calories that your body doesn’t need and can be incredibly harmful to your health. Several are linked to cancer and diabetes. These are found in many chocolate bars and candies, MOST processed foods, and even some HEALTH products (such as energy bars!) Read food labels to be safe!

    – DIETS. AVOID THEM. There is NO reason to eat nothing but celery and iceberg lettuce for weeks at a time. Diets work while you’re on them, but as soon as you stop all the weight comes back rapidly. They’re also bad for your health, the BEST “diet” to follow is just eating healthy foods and portions right for a person your size. Remember these words as well: Breakfast like a king, lunch like a lord, and dinner like a peasant. (Your body needs more food in the morning to get you through the day and less at night at you’ll just be laying in bed motionless.)

    – Diet PILLS. AVOID THESE TOO! I doubt you’re interested as you’re young, but just in case the thought had crossed your mind, diet pills are trouble, especially for young people. All they do is remove excess weight during the time you’re on them. As soon as you stop, you’ll swell up like a balloon.

    – Exercise. Most of us hate it, but it’s very, VERY good for you. The best thing to do is to come up with a routine. Even if you just do half an hour of cardio every day, or every other day it’s better than nothing. Muscle building exercises are great too, and before you freak out, I mean toned healthy muscles, not bulging abs or biceps that would make Popeye cry. Crunches, push-ups, and squats strengthen your arms, legs, and torso. Healthy stomach muscles boost digestive health and help you burn calories as well.

Finally: Remember that a healthy amount of weight to lose is two pounds every two weeks. I know you want to lose forty pounds, but that would put a LOT of strain on your body. You’ll notice a difference if you stick to losing about 14 or 15 pounds before your deadline, and you’ll feel GREAT!

Sorry to ramble on, figured I’d cover all the basics. Hope this helped, and good luck!
