Heart rate monitor & treadmill question?
Hi, I bought a heartrate monitor yesterday (Nike) and used it this morning. I run on a treadmill everyday, not outside …. I’m still new with this HRM and tried out a few things…
I ran at around 140bpm for about 15 min and increased my speed…the funny thing is that my heart rate went down to 80bpm and stayed there most of the time. Every now and then it jumps up to 140 again and then down to 80. At the end of the workout (40min), I only burnt 193 calories.
Should your heart rate not be higher when you go faster???? Anyway – any ideas why this might be?
I was thinking: the treadmill has a built in HRM – can it be that the two are conflicting???
PS. the treadmill showed my heartrate at around 145 the whole time and burned 489 calories….
What am I doing wrong?

Your doing nothing wrong, there is something wrong with the monitor, get it checked out.

The monitor isn’t working. The faster you run the higher your heart rate will be.
