I have lost 40 lbs. in 6 months after I was put on the drug Byetta. It completely eliminated my appetite, making it easy to not overeat. Byetta is injected. I got it prescribed at a diabetes clinic. I don’t know if it’s available to non-diabetics. Check with your doctor.

    Join the military. J/k ;P
Seriously though, the military’s basic training is a very good example of how to loose weight and get toned in just a few short weeks. Using the same level of physical exercise, you would find very pleasing results. The only problem would be the lack of time, if you have a busy schedule, and the lack of motivation to push yourself to your physical limits daily. The key? Lots of running, sit-ups, and push-ups.

DO YOU REALLY WANT THE TRUTH?

YOU ARE ASKING A MEDICAL QUESTION, HOWEVER, MY RESPONSE AS SET FORTH HEREIN, IS NOT TO BE CONSTRUED, IN ANY RESPECT, AS MEDICAL ADVICE. YOU SHOULD SEEK MEDICAL ADVICE REGARDING EFFECTIVE AND FAST DIET METHODS.

First of all, effective and fast, with respect to losing weight, is a questionable senario.

I assume you want the truth, since you asked the question.

Take note that I’m not hawking anything, especially not some TV diet program where the only thing you lose is a lot of your money.

Here’s the only true answer (THE TRUTH) to your question:

YOU MUST BURN MORE CALORIES PER DAY THAN YOU EAT.

Yep! It’s that simple, and everything else you here and see on TV or read in books is pure “BS.”

Proper, REPEAT,proper daily exercise is healthy and certainly aids in you conditioning your body, but the average person isn’t really going to burn all than many calories doing some easy low-rep routine or jogging. Swimming 60 laps twice daily combined with a hard (fast) 30 minute-long jumping-rope exercise routine is really benefitial exercise and burns more calories per hour than most other exercises including running! But not many people have such facilities at their convenience.

Therefore, one must count calories every day. It’s not hard and there are inexpensive books with easy to read and easy to understand information regarding the calories in various foods.

One can eat whatever one wants, except for food-stuff that’s been medically evaluated, by a medical doctor, as being harmful to the person. A balanced diet is recommended along with plenty of water to drink. Don’t overdo the salt either.

Other than valid medical problems, a person only has two possible problems causing you to be overweight: 1) they eat too much (too many calories daily) and 2) they lack the will power to eat properly to control weight. They only have themselves to blame; they have no excuses.

After two weeks of burning 500 more calories daily than one eats daily, they will be past the hardest part of their change in eating habits. The discomfort from hunger will begin to disipate to nothing and your body will become more energetic. After four weeks, the person will be sailing along towards their goal, and they are going to begin noticing changes in SIZE! and it won’t be from water loss either.

Once a person reaches a level @ about 5 pounds below their goal, they should phase into the maintenance level of daily calorie intake; one wants to burn the same amount of calories they are eating on a daily basis…and the maintdnance program is an everyday thing forever! Do not cheat: one is only cheating him/herself.

The fastest way to tone one’s body is, frankly, by proper diet and a very agressive program pumping iron: free weights. Free weights can be held and positioned to work specific parts of a muscle and different parts of the muscle; this simply is not possible on a machine.

You might want to check out Arnold’s (Gov. of Cal.) Books on bodybuilding at the ligrary, a book store, or at Amazon.Com. He simply tells it like it is, and what he has to say is still excellent advice to this day.

Once a person gets their maintance program tweaked, 1) they’ll be into a new grove and their new maintence eating habits will soon become second nature, 2) they will no longer be hungry between meals, 3 they’ll enjoy what they eat; they’ll simply be eating less at each meal than they did before dieting, and 5) they will feel much better, have more energy, and look geat!

Hey, what you waiting for? Get with the program.

    EXTRA:

Why do most people gain too much weight? Here’s some of the reasons why:

    1) Metabolism slows down with age, and as a common occurence, or call it a coincidence, a persons metabolism starts changing at about the time the person becomes less active (two separate things). As a result, one’s percent of body fat increases. These things usually start happening: a) shortly after one’s teen years, b) near age 30, c) usually some more as the years pass towards the autumn of one’s life, and, of course, during pregnancy and following childbirth.

    2) Some people ignore their metabolic changes, and the fact that their reduction of activity lowers the amount of calories they are burning daily, but they keep eating the same quantity (quanitity) of food stuff; they didn’t adjust for the changes, and in time, a few extra pounds become 15 or 20, and over time, the person simply becomes wider and heavier. It’s no mystery, it’s simple math, and the numbers don’t lie.

Now their heart has to work harder, all the time, because of the weight and their blood tests start reading like a horror story, because they are storing a lot of that fat around the organs (the heart, kidney, and liver), the stomach, thighs, but, arms, face, and etc.

Always get a medical check-up prior to begining any diet, and let the doctor know what you diet intentions are. Never let your Doctor sell you his/her super-duper, really expensive diet program, even if it is covered by your insurance. It’s your doctor: the person that’s already being paid huge fees, by you, to provide for your medical care and adivce, including any diets you need. And no, you do not want the doctor’s the expensive food that’s specially packaged for your diet; you can get all the specially formulated food one needs or could possibly want, at the supermarket grocery and for a lot less, its fresher, and it taste better. Remember, this isn’t rocket science.

People will generally lose weight faster during the first two weeks of a diet than following that period: has to do with hydration/dehydration. After than slow, but steady progress (1 pound per week is 52 pounds a year), is the healthiest approach.

DISCLAIMER: I AM NOT PRESCRIBING ANYTHING HERE: I’M SIMPLY RELAYHING SOME INFORMATION IN RESPONSE TO A QUESTION. READERS ARE SOLELY RESPONSIBLE, IN ALL RESPECTS, FOR THE RISKS OF THEIR ACTIONS TAKEN REGARDING THE INFORMATION CONTAINED HEREIN.

READERS ARE CAUTIONED TO GET A MEDICAL CHECKUP PRIOR TO BEGINING ANY DIET.

Pardon the typos, but I typed this in about 10 minutes, and that’s really fast for me.
