Has anyone else lost weight just by walking 30 minutes a day?

I have! And I’m really pleased with myself. I was a size 14 and but now I’m creeping back down to a size 12. Ok, they’re a little tight but the 14 is definitely baggy and feels big. I haven’t changed my diet but I do walk 30 mins or so every day and I’ve noticed an incredible difference. I can finally go shopping for new clothes very soon. Good luck to everyone else that is trying to lose weight. You can do it!

At the age of 53 I lost 5 Kg in 10 days of brisk walking. Whether obese or not , walking for about a hour is good for health. Cardiac patient should walk as per the advice of Doc. Early morning and evening walks are good.

If you have a fast metabolism with excercise, your size is what you choose it to be!!
Well done on you, keep it up!

My friend has moved house and now walks a lot more than she used to taking her daughetr to school and going to her Mum’s and the shops etc and she has gone from a size 18 to a size 14 in four months. She has found that she does eat less because of the amount of walking she does a day, she isn’t at home as much picking at food all day now.
Congratulations on the weight loss though hun x

I lost 105 pounds in 6 months. Here is how I did it.
    1. Every morning get up and walk for 45 minutes. You can start with less time, but you want to get up to 45 minutes, and it must be fast walk. You want your heart rate to go up. It must be in the morning, it kick starts your metabolism.
    2. I cut out Red Meat, and fatty foods. Boneless skinnless chicken breast, baked, or grilled, rice and vegetables (steamed).
    3. Eat half. Just eat half of what you normally eat. Put 1/2 on your plate, and put the rest away. Cook less. When you go to fast food, get salads only. Or grilled chicken. No fries, only diet soda. Or water.

It will work, once you get into a routine, you will get hooked on the results, and you will keep the routine. It has been over a year for me.

Also start counting your calories. Write them down. You would be amazed as to how much more aware you are of your caloric intake, if you actually write it down. We recently discovered a site that offers a great program that counts calories, as well as keeps track of everything. It allows multiple users, so everyone in the family can keep track. They offer a free 7 day trial, and so far I am very impressed with the product. Try the 7 days and see. It allows you to add the exercise that you do during the day, which increases the amount of calories you can take in. Very Cool!!

Walking on flat ground for 30 min will not help much without a diet. However fast walking up slope, will provide better result.

I walk every day but not to lose weight as i’m a skinny little bleeder already….

I do it because it gives good tone to my muscles and its very calming to get out into nature & the countryside.

Yes, me too. I was forced into it because I hurt my back and walking helps it. My back’s better’s these days but I’m hooked now. I did combine it with a little bit of watching what I’m eating. Lost about a dress size and still loosing weight on the same routine.

I think it’s actually good to show that you can lose weight by moderate exercise and a bit of common sense about food. It takes a bit more time, but I think it is a much better idea than going mad in the gym and on some crazy diet, losing, say, 10 kilos (or whatever stones and pounds, I’m European) really fast and then giving up in frustration and gaining it all back.

I feel I’d have no problem keeping this up forever, because I’m not suffering in the gym, just enjoying a walk and not feeling deprived cutting out whole food groups but just enjoying food within sensible limits.

That’s a long rant. The short answer: Yes, more or less. Great, isn’t it! Go us!
