i want to gain muscle but at the same time stay skinny and reduce body fat because im afraid bulking up too much will affect my running performance…i have been told to eat more calories than i consume to gain muscle..but wont that just make me fatter at the same time?

but can i simply just consume lots of protein and burning more calories and eat less i can gain muscle and lose fat?

You need to consume nore calories than you burn to be able to put on muscle,You need to reevaluate your diet
    http://health.drgily.com/basal-metabolic… .

Add 500 cal to the number and that is your “bulking diet.” Most people use a 30/50/30 or 40/40/20 protein/carbs/fats ratio. These are percentages of the number you got in the BMR calc. For example: 40/40/20- 2000 cal diet you’ll have 2000x.4= 800 cal proteins and carbs and 2000x.2= 400cal fats

Each g of proteins and carbs is equal to 4 cal and each g of fat is 9 cal. So 800/4= 200 pro and carbs and 400/9= 45ish g of fat (did that in my head dont know if its right).

So in this example you need 200g pro 200g carbs and 45g fat. These are a guideline and you want to stay as close as possible to this and eat as healthy as possible at the same time.

Here are some good foods to eat:

    no
you need the calories….its not just protein…you need fat, carbs etc
and 1500 is way below what you should have
and yes youll gain fat, what most people do is bulking and cutting cycles
bulking is eating aLOt of food to get bigger and stronger, but also fatter
cutting is when you lower your bodyfat percentage..but still eat hella food
im eating twice of what you are eating to loose weight

the moral of what im saying is. you need to eat more than 1500 calories prob in the 3k-4k area

From what you’ve said, you are training to increase muscle, lower fat, and maintain your approximate weight. So looking at that, balance is what you need to achieve. This means take in as many calories as you burn and exercise with resistance or weight training. This will keep you from “bulking” up while toning the muscles and losing the fat.

But . . . (there’s always a “but” isn’t there?) you have to watch where those calories come from. Avoid calories from fats and refined/processed sugars. This means keep your diet heavy to the fruits and vegetables. If you eat meat, make sure it is the leanest possible to reduce those fat calories in your intake. Low-fat cheese is good as is low-fat yogurt (which is an excellent pre-bedtime snack).

I’ve linked to a bmr (basal metabolic rate) calculator (bmr is the number of calories you would burn if you didn’t crawl out of bed all day) and a nice calories burning calculator that lists a number of exercise and “normal” activities so you can get an idea of how many calories you need to consume. Just do the calculations and add the 2 figures together to get the total amount of calories you are burning. It doesn’t list everything, so it is only an estimate, but it will get you close.

Most people get plenty of protein in a normal, balanced, and healthy diet, but from personal experience, on those days when I work out more than usual, my recuperation time is improved by taking in a protein drink right after my workout.

And I always recommend doing some research on your own. As little as 10 minutes a day can build you a good reserve of knowledge that you can apply and find what works best for you. Plus, doing the research in small amounts gives your mind time to understandand how you can incorporate that new knowledge with minimal disruption or change.
