Why is my body fat percentage increasing despite my wheight loss?

Over the course of the past three days I’ve lost five pounds but my body fat percentage has increased 0.5%. I’ve been eating five meals a day (each 250 calories), drinking lots of water, running 20 minuets, and weight lifting. I just don’t unddersatand why my body fat percentage has increased.

It sounds like you have been using diuretics to “lose” water weight due to the rapid loss of 5 pounds in 3 days. The reason your body “fat” seems to be on the rise is because you have been starving your body of fluids and now it is beginning to store them in it’s own defense.

You’re not taking in enough calories; absolute minimum is 1500 to 1800 a day, so first, you need to up your caloric intake to about 300 to 350 calories per meal.

Sounds like you’re burning muscle instead of fat. You need to make sure that you’ve got enough protein in what you’re eating, although a 4 oz. portion of about any meat will insure that your daily requirement is met.

Five pounds in three days is too fast a weight loss; about one to two pounds a week is more like it. You didn’t put on the extra weight on all at once, so it’s not gonna come off all at once.

sounds like you just need to tweak things a little. and then you should see some real fat loss.
