What type of excercise is best for slimming the thighs, and actually works?

I’m not overweight, but I did inherit the big thigh gene and my legs could use some slimming and toning, please let me know about excercises that actually work and how long will it take to see results.

    lunges… and be prepared for sore legs and butt muscles.. they suck but they are AWESOME for your legs.. squats, swimming, running up and down stairs, and maybe hit a gym and see what kind of leg work out machines they have there..
