id say the hamstrings/glutes/and quads because they generate your walking power and really have the capacity to make you move. also i think they may be the strongest because they are the largest.

i think its your tongue…all those other things you mentioned are more than one muscle arent they?

I believe it’s the tongue. Did you know when you get your tongue pierced if you even take it out for a few hours it can close up? Pretty strong I’d say.

The heart and tongue are the strongest muscle per size. The problem with those theories is that the heart is made up of involuntary muscle & is mainly an endurance muscle. The tongue, on the other hand, is actually made up of 4 muscles and is not as strong.

I think the quads. If you go to the weight room you can lift more weight with a leg extension than with a leg curl.

I’ve heard that, pound for pound, the strongest muscle is actually the Mandible (lower jaw) muscle … but I can’t remember where I heard that from …

Relative to its size, the tongue is the strongest muscle in the body and it is also the ONLY muscle in the entire body that is attached at only one end.

~It is the masseter or jaw muscle.
If you don’t believe me, ask any pediatrician who has been bitten by one of their patients.

The strongest muscle of the body is the masseter muscle, which is located in the jaw.
Relative to size, the strongest muscle in the body is the tongue.
The strongest muscle in the human body is the gluteus maximus.
part of the thigh muscle group. It makes up a large portion of the shape and appearance of the buttocks.
But who knows. Lately I think the strongest muscle in my body is in my middle finger due to road rage! lol

the strongest muscle in the body pound for pound i believe is the tongue. but the strongest overall muscle is the heart specifically the left ventricle. and the heart is is also the only muscle in the body that never gets a rest.

The heart is the only muscle not to rest is not strictly true, what about the muscles that aid breathing (intercostal muscles)?
