What is the best exercise for toning and slimming?

I have two kids now and I would like to get into shape. I don’t have the finaces to go to a gym. I would like to get toned and slim and don’t know what the best things to do that. Any suggestions would be great. Any exercises that would involve my kids wouldn’t hurt either.

    Swimming, 3-5 times a week, 30 minutes.

    Depending on how old your kids are depends on what you can do together. Swimming, biking, hiking, pilates, yoga, etc. I just got the Turbo Jam videos and my 6 year old loves it! Also depending how much “fat” you are looking to lose will depend on the activity. If you have a lot of baby fat to lose swimming would be good, anything where you are moving at a brisk pace will help you lose the fat. For toning pilates and yoga are good. Your kids might really like Turbo Jam too!
