What is better for slimming and toning your legs?

I work out on an eliptical machine for all the muscles in my legs. Is it better to increase the resistance or keep it low while working out my legs? I am trying to slim and tone my thighs and calvs. Any suggestions???

    An eliptical machine is mostly for cardio not for strengthening; although there are some strength benefits especially when increasing the resistence. Lunges and Body squats are great for strengthening and toning the legs. You can do a yahoo! or google search for “strength building exercises and find many good websites that properly demonstrate the exercise OR you can ask one of the trainers at your gym (if you belong to a gym) to demonstrate for you. Cardio is great but is limited in what it can do for overall toning AND strengthening.
