Neither. Diets all fail because they are diets. They deprive by definition. What you need is lifestyle modification, and changes in eating habits. The primary objective of this change should be to improve long-term health and reduce the risk of chronic disease. This usually means weight loss, but not necessarily – it is entirely possible to be at a heavier weight and be healthy – in fact, it is a preferable alternative if weight loss is particularly difficult.
Most people see a world of difference once they start eating more healthily – and I don’t mean with just weight loss.

to lose fat. Why lose weight perse? that would mean you just need to cut off a limb and you have suceeded.
Or stop going to the gym and stop eating, that would result in muscle loss but your fat levels would stay the same/increase as your muscles weigh more then fat.
Fat can harm your health if there is too much of it, bone, muscle, blood, all are ok if you have too much of them unless its because its a result of a very bad illness/genetic disorder.

We diet and exercise because we need to lose fat that can be harmful to out body. If we lose weight something is wrong with our body.

To do both… cautiously. Because you can be fit and very muscular but having too much muscle is just as bad as being morbidly obese depending on how big you are.

to lose fat as whilst getting fitter you will gain muscle mass which weighs more than fat and therefore it will look like you have gained weight which is associated with being unfit but infact it will be muscle and you will be more toned and healthy x
