If you’re questioning your friend’s advice, then why ask complete strangers to confirm it?
I suggest google.

Yes jump roping is. If you workout everyday accumulate about 15 minutes of that time spent to jump roping. You will see a lot more tone and definiton and you’ll lose weight.

The best way to lose weight is to not concentrate on one exercise over and over again. You have to vary your exercise routine up and bring variety into your workout. Running and jumpng rope can be just as effective if you use them in combination.
Break up your workout by what is called interval training. If you run, run at 85 % of your heart rate for a minute and then go back to a steady speed for a while, then repeat.
