probably quite a few, although walking is good for you it doesn´t burn as many calories as aerobic exercise, like jogging does.

I would reckon a guess at 8-10km, at a fast pace.

In your case it seems that the only time you walk is towards food.

It depends on your current body weight. You could say that one mile will burn approx 100 calories in one mile and there are 3500 calories in one pound…..35 miles.

Actually with being that lazy you could always wrap yourself in a black bin liner and stand in the shower for about half an hour with the hot steam immersing you. That way you’d lose about 1lb of water from your body via sweating.

Walking actually uses about 50 calories per mile ( jogging is nearer 100 calories) although this does depend on on your weight etc. .The average person requires about 2000 calories per day – so if you eat more than this you will need to burn this off by walking . E.G. eat 2500 cals – excess of 500 = 10 miles walk to stay same weight. It is not possible to calculate actual weight loss for each mile unless the person’s original weight is known – but I reckon each extra mile would lose about 0.1 pound.

Well, to lose 1 lb of weight (fat) per week, you need to burn an extra 500 calories per day, assuming you aren’t changing your diet.

P/s: 1 lb of fat equals 3,500 calories.

    So, in a week, 500 calories x7 = 3,500 calories

Walking cranks up your metabolism to burn off calories but a walk of 60 mins in moderate intensity would normally burn off only 200-300 calories.

For you to achieve burning off 500 calories per day, you need to do race walking (i.e. walk as if you’re racing) as this kind of walking is high intensity where you cover more miles in shorter time and you can burn off up to 400 – 500 calories per hr.
