If I excersise but dont diet, will I still lose weight?

I have started to go to a gym 3 nights a week, an hour at a time.

I still want to eat what I want though. I eat healthily usually but my downfall is the odd choc bar or cake.

Will I still tone up and lose a bit of weight? I dont have loads of weight to lose, but I would like to tone up after having 4 kids.

    As long as you are using more calories than you are taking in, you will lose weight. There is nothing wrong with the occasional cake/ biscuit.

    same here ive had 2 kids,but you have to excersise enough everyday to take off the calories you have eaten during the day and extra to see the difference ive tried it and it personally didn’t work for me i excersise everyday now and eat healthily and at the weekends i eat what i want πŸ™‚

    i dont think you will lose weight , but you will tone up , also muscle is heavier than fat so you may well , weigh more but this will be toned muscle and not fat , and you will look slimmer

    well weight loss is all about calories in vs calories out. If you asked the question the other way around, will I lose weight if I diet and not exercise my answer would be yes because diet (portion control and counting caloires) is more important in weight loss that working out at the gym and then eating it all back up when you get home. Not only is that not reassuring but it will be frusting because only you know how much time and effort you spent at the gym and at most you probably only burnt about 500-600 calories and one slice of chocolate cake can easily have 500 calories and that’s a moderate portion not even including that milk you’ll probably down it with which as anywhere from 70-140 calories depending on the fat content on your milk and how large the glass you drink.

    It also depends on the sort of exercises you are doing, for some youl see more imporvements than with others.
    It also depends on what you are eating, theres eating what you want with reason and there just eating what you want where everything is unhealthy.
    Try to limit when you eat unhealthy foods, i use friday as mine and call it fat friday and ill treat myself on the sat as well.

    I’d bet my last dollar that you will lose weight by merely going to the gym IF you’ll do the following:

    1. Exercise INTENSIVELY – work hard enough to really work up a good sweat! Sweat is not a four-letter word. If you’re in a gym and not sweating, you’re not working hard enough. No exceptions.

    2. Use a variety of machines, especially the elliptical machine.
    And gradually increase the “Level” in the machine’s settings. If you need help to understand the machine’s setting (I’m assuming you have electronic machines), just ask staff or other helpful members.

    3. I’m assuming that you’re healthy and have talked with your primary care physician about your exercise program. Learn about terms such as “desired heart rate” and then work (choose exercises) that get you to 90% of your desired heart rate. This may require some reading and consulting with your doctor.

    4. After you warm up with aerobic exercises (treadmill or bike or best, elliptical), be sure to do some strength training – arms, shoulders, legs, etc. Even some free weights.

    5. Give this project at least six months. Don’t quit. And I’d also caution you not to “overdo it.” If you hurt yourself, you might have to take a break or even stop. That’s not good. So be cautious and “listen to your body.”

    Now the very best suggestion of all: Exercise your brain and your soul:
    Read the best book I’ve found yet. “Younger Next Year.” They have a separate edition for Women and one for men. I loved mine (the men’s edition, in yellow) so much that I bought one (a pink edition) for my wife.     Make your own cakes if you have to eat them, using replacements like extra light butter, splenda not sugar etc or buy the weight watcher’s cake mix πŸ™‚
