It does not matter how many calories you eat, as long as you are using more than you eat, you will lose weight.

You know something , don’t worry about the calories , i have not , and it worked for me , the best thing is to basically eat what you like but in smaller quantities, ie use a smaller plate, 2 sausages instead of 4 , 2 scoops of potato instead of three , all those little cutbacks will make a huge difference , i lost 5 stone in 12 months simply by cutting down on the bad things , ie chocolate is good but 1kg bar is not, eat a fun-size one , but let it melt in your mouth learn to taste and savour it , rather than wolf it down , same with main meals , take your time to eat it. small changes – big impact

It varies from person to person and is difficult to pin down exactly but your answer will be in the band between 1500 and 1750 most likely. 2000 is the normal calories a day for a woman and theoretically should keep most women at about the same weight.

I believe that a woman needs 2000 calories a day to be healthy, so I guess if you take that as your basis you should be ok. Remember, its not just how much you eat but what you eat as well. For example, you cant make up your 2000 cals on cream cakes! But a healthy diet plus exercise is the right way around. If you eat more than you burn off, it turns to fat. But if you burn more than you eat, the stored fat is used, hence you lose weight. Good Luck!

    800

Somewhere around 1800 a day, of which 45% is protein, 35% is carbs, and 20% is fat (unsaturated only.

Edit: Don’t listen to the 800 and 900 calorie a day diets. Your body needs energy, and in order to function and maintain healthy internal organs, your body needs anywhere from 1200 to 1600 calories a day – which it consumes and not stores. So eating 800 or 900 calories a day is not healthy. If this advice is coming from a bio professor who happens to be a nutritionist, he or she should probably change professions because they really don’t know anything about how the body functions.

I also forgot to mention that exercising is an important part of losing weight. You don’t have to exercise every day for long periods of time… 2-3 times a week, 40-60 minutes a session is plenty. Focus on a mix of light weight training and interval cardio exercises.
