How easy is it to lose weight at 20 years old?

I’m a 20 year old female. I’m not very overweight, I’m 5’8 and weigh probably between 150-160 pounds. However, I do want to start getting into better shape with weights and I’ll probably have to lose a little weight for my progress to show…I have heard that the younger you are the easier it is to do this, is that true?
