How do you know if your gaining weight or gaining muscle?

If you go on a diet where your supposed to lose 2 pounds a week and exersize but instead of losing weight you gain it, how do you know if that’s fat or muscle?

use a caliper to measure your body fat percentage. If that number is decreasing you are losing fat.

you can tell if its fat if it jiggles like jello. but if its like kinda stiff then its muscle

You can squeeze your parts on your body that bulge out (fat or muscle) and if it is blubbery and soft it is fat, if it is hard and strong then it is muscle.

You can usually tell if you are toning up and your clothes feel loose. The best way to tell though is to get on a scale that measures you body fat index.
