How do I survive the low carb lifestyle?

I am just starting out (again) on a low carb diet, but everyone close to me eats very high carb foods. How do people get through that and how does one survive and maintain a low-carb diet?

just try not have what they are eating. the key to being on any type of diets is to have self control.

get your friends on your side. There are always going to be people around you that aren’t on the same diet as you. but your friends can either go on diet with you, but actually, they just need to help you. If they are supportive of you.. it will help A LOT

low carb diet is not healthy…u need carbs to for energy…low fat diet with exercise is healthy

with low carb which is the main fuel for muscles…ur body will think its a starvation period and save the fat …ur body will use muscle protien for energy instead…so u see u didnt burn fat and worse u lost ur muscle mass….there are other side effects for these diets…couldnt memorize them all from my textbooks :p …i say cut back on fat and exercise

Low carb diets are not healthy. You should cut down on all three calorie soruces but not so much that it is unhealthy.

You have to count the carbs in every food you eat and don’t forget to check the serving size when counting carbs. You can eat what everyone is eating just not as much. They have good books for diabetics that need low carb diets

ok, for example, everyone around you is easting pizza. to avoid the temptation, have mozzerella sticks, no breaded, spaghetti sauce, and say some peperoni slices on hand..that way you get basicly a pizza w/out the carby crust.

i LOVED when i was on a low car diet..i have not felt so good in YEARS!!! yeah i am going back on it. i really and truly felt better physicaly and mentaly and emoptiobnaly more balanced.

    hope that helped.

she said LOW CARB not NO CARB!!

example. your body burns fat to make energy, hence weight loss, but your body will burn carbs first. so the first couple weeks you take all carb out until you hit ketosis (body burning fat for energy) when that happens, you slowly add carbs keeping track of it till you go out of ketosis, then you drop the number of carbs you can have back down to where you were burning them just under the limit that brought you out of ketosis. that is the amount of carbs you can have per day and still maintain fat burning. the body still gets the carbs it needs and yet still burns fat off. it’s awsome !!

i suggest as a sugar alternative STEVIA!! splenda was being tested as a pesticide , that is how they found it was sweet. nutrasweet just as bad, it metabolizes similar to chemicals contained in fire ant venom and formaldehyde in the body. please dear GODS if you must have sweet, use STEVIA or RAW SUGAR!!
whats more there are no long term studies cataloging the effects of long term ingestion of either nutrasweet or splenda.

alos keep in mind , not everyones body works the same way. so where a low carb diet works for some it won’t work for everyone.

    1. Not cutting them out complety high fiber carbs will actually help you lose weight.
2 Getting through the first couple weeks. After that your body won’t crave them as much.

you can’t. it is against every fiber of your being to be on a low carb diet because the body views carbs as the most perfect and preferred source of energy. that’s why carb cravings get strong enough to derail you from your diet. in reality, your body needs 50-70% of its calories PER DAY from carbs. the issue is simply knowing what sources of food to get your carbs from. these are whole grains, fruits and veggies. things that are high in fiber are very good for you and you get a lot of nutrients from these carbs that you can not get from protein or fat. a correct portion size of carbs is about the size of your fist so be aware of that as well. by incorperating healthy carbs into your eating habits you won’t have to worry about going off or back on diets or the guilt that often comes along with that. no more cravings or having to be the odd man out when everyone else around you is eating carbs.
